The weekend box office actuals are in for Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: Far From Home, and the Jon Watts-directed superhero blockbuster has gotten off to an amazing $111 million start internationally, which includes a spectacular $98 million from China.

With that kind of start, the critically-acclaimed Far From Home is pacing 46% ahead of Spider-Man: Homecoming and is now on pace to top $200 million in the Middle Kingdom. For comparison's sake, Homecoming finished its box office run in China with $116 million, a figure the sequel will likely top within its first week of release.

In other comic book movie news, the re-release of Marvel's Avengers: Endgame managed to pull in $6.1 million domestically and $2.3 million overseas, taking its worldwide haul to $2.764 billion. The Russo Brothers-directed Infinity Saga finale is now approximately $23 million behind James Cameron's Avatar, and for the time being, it appears Endgame will not be taking the record before the end of its run.

On a more positive note, Keanu Reeves' action extravaganza, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, has roared past $300 million worldwide. Its total collection now stands at a franchise-best $303.6 million ($161.3M domestic; $142.3M foreign).

@DR3D - Agree! The whole cast is fantastic, but if I HAD to choose - Gyllenhaal. Got a 'Nightcrawler' vibe from this.

I wonder why Marvel doesn't just buy up theaters like they did for Captain Marvel to get the record over and done with.😉😉😉

Congrats to FFH! Endgame can definitely get this- if not with this release then another during Christmas or so.

Off-topic, but I finally saw Into the Spider-Verse via Netflix, and man, was I sleeping on it! What an amazing, charming movie!

@WeaponXCII - I just saw it too. The animation was Amazing, Spectacular. I just had to throw those in there. Story was great. I still prefer a live action flick, but this had so much going for it. Biggest flaw was Kingpin. I didn’t like him visually and after D’Onofrio, the performance seemed weak.

Every week Endgame gets closer and closer to taking down Avatar.

This articles shouldn’t doubt it. Lol

Another 10 or 15 this week since Spider-Man should boost Endgame up.

And another 5 or 10 million the week after, before Lion King comes out.

Endgame is probably going to end its theatrical run sometime the end of September or early October at the latest

Glad Far From Home is making big bucks in China. The Chinese ripped a great Endgame widescreen bootleg that found its way here maybe they'll do the same for Far From Home.

And it's just on the even of Tuesday before it opens up worldwide on the weekend for other countries like my own. Gonna be interesting to have the first summed up numbers by the end of the weekend.

If they want to beat Avatar, like if they really want to. Wait until Xmas and the. Rerelease, maybe with a 3D conversion - I actually can’t remember of this was already in 3D?

Let’s not forget, I beat before Avatar 2 gets released Avatar 1 will be released again so will increase that number.

Waiting for it to be released here in Spain, it looks good fun. A little bit pissed that Endgame is not going to make it, but they are trying too hard with the re-release.

Hope they tackle sinister six next.

This movie was cool. A definite step back on the drama, and a much simpler execution, but the visuals were SPOT ON for Mysterio, and Peter and company have a bond that feels genuine. An overall fun flick that left me wanting more, but happy with the experience. My two cents...

This new Spidey film was spectacular. I really, really enjoyed it. Mysterio was done SO perfectly, probably one of the best, most faithful villain adaptations we've gotten in the MCU. There's a scene in this film that is CLASSIC Mysterio, I mean youll feel like you are reading a coming book come to life. The action senes are done brilliantly. Everything else is done with value and respect for Spider-Man's character and mythos. It is funny, action packed, engaging, and inspiring and Holland absolutely nails it as Peter.
