It Sounds Like The Osborns Will Remain On The Shelf After SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

Those of you hoping to see the Green Goblin in the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel may be disappointed, as Marvel's Kevin Feige has shed some light on what's next for the franchise's villains.

The Vulture was originally set to appear in Spider-Man 4 but like The Shocker and Tinkerer, he's a villain who has never previously appeared in a movie alongside the wall-crawler. Moving forward, there are plenty of bad guys for Marvel and Sony to pick and choose from but someone a lot of fans would love to see return to the big screen is Norman Osborn, someone we all know best as the Green Goblin.

The problem with that is the fact that the Osborn family was a huge part of both the original Spider-Man trilogy and The Amazing Spider-Man movies so going back there is akin to retreading old ground.

That was something reiterated by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige when HeyUGuys.com asked about the possibility of seeing the Green Goblin make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"We haven't talked about that. What's fun about this is it's the first time Spider-Man is in the MCU. And the first time he's played by an actor who is the age, essentially, Spidey was in the comics for so long. And, as Michael Keaton does with the Vulture, we get to explore villains we haven't seen before. Spidey has an amazing rogues gallery, so at some point I think it might be interesting to revisit some of the characters we've seen in films before, but right now, we think there are a lot of new ones we haven't played with yet."

In other words, don't get your hopes up that the Osborns will returnany time in the near future. It's definitely a shame that we're not going to see the Green Goblin take to the skies again but after two appalling Harry Osborn versions, it's easy to see why Marvel might want to focus elsewhere. What do you guys think? As always, feel free to share your thoughts and theories in the comments section.

Like...this guys?

Yes? No? Too "freaky"?
Just how many Spidey villains is Sony taking "hostage" here? We know about Venom, Kraven, Mysterio etc...

...

SMDH.

@Doomsday8888 - I'm down to it. Morbius is one of my personal faves ever since and thanks to the 90s cartoon. Enjoyed as well when he was a villain in the PS2 version of Spider-Man 3.

It'd be also "ballsy" if Marvel Studios scheduled "Homecoming 2" for an October release in order to match up some Halloween and scary vibes for Morbius.

I agree. Leave this for at least the 3rd movie, keep it fresh for now.
Maybe just introduce Harry right now.

@Jaspion - Harry, MJ and Gwen are from Peter's college years. I'd prefer that they appear then when he's more mature and has had a few years of experience under his belt.

If the Marvel / Sony Deal continues for the next few years, I'd love to see Norman Osbourne developed and the next big bad ala how Thanos has been.

@MrMurdock - Norman Osbourne isn't that much of a threat to any other heroes honestly. Spiderman alone could handle him. And if he ever get too much into the tech field to pose a threat then Tony Stark would intervene.

Dr. Doom is big enough to shake up Earth within the MCU but unfortunately we don't have him.

@SonOfAGif - Dark Avengers??

@Deonox - Highly doubt the Iron Patriot armor is still around.

@SonOfAGif - While Dr. Doom would definitely be the ideal candidate, I think Osborn could still pose a big threat, like @Deonox said, if he were to form his own Dark Avengers squad down the line that would be pretty sweet. Would mix it up from the whole Loki + Chituari Army vs Avengers, Ultron + Bot Army vs Avengers we've had so far.

@SonOfAGif - Norman would be a threat in a different type of way that @MrMurdock said. Away from the mindless drones. At some point Marvel or DC has to do a team of villains.

@SonOfAGif - Lol true but they can do an MCU version of Dark Avengers with different characters

i'm just gonna ask one question: which villains do Marvel have and which are left for Sony ?

Good. The Green Goblin/Osborns have been beaten to death between the Raimi and Webb series. Focus on something different. I vote building to a Spidey vs. Sinister Six film.
