Despite persistent rumors that Zendaya had been secretly cast as MJ Watson in Spider-Man: Homecoming, the young actress is still adamant that she's simply playing Michelle, who may or may not be based on Michele Gonzalez from the comics.

Whether this turns out to be misdirection or not remains to be seen, but whichever character Zendaya turns out to be, she's featured in some new official stills below.

The pics come courtesy of SMTV Reports, and also include new glimpses of Needs Leeds, Peter Parker both in and out of his superhero duds, and a BTS shot of Michael Keaton's Adrian Toomes.

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7.

If I see any more Ally Sheedy comparisons, I swear.

Like, because of her look? Her personality, from what we've, isn't close to Sheedy's character.

And no, this isn't aimed at Danny's comment up top. I didn't notice it until I started writing this comment dammit

I might be the only one that doesn't like her look. I mean why is her hair like that.
Thats just a minor problem. Anyway excited for this movie as always.

I'm pretty sure her character is purposely dressed down because she is really MJ and will be all glammed up for the big reveal. But hey, we can only take her word for now.

@RorMachine - "My character is 100 percent Michelle, that’s her name, I promise I’m not lying. She’s definitely a different character. This is a character I can have fun with and just really create what I wanted to make her and the director a lot of really cool ideas about how to make her weird and interesting and cool. She says weird things at the wrong time, but that’s why people like her."

Must be Mary jane.
