Jman's Breakdown of MTV's Spider-Man:Turn of the Dark Review

Click on the jump for 5 things MTV liked and 5 things they didnt like while watching Broadway's 'Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark'.

Lets start out with what they did like. Now you will have to click on the source link to see how MTV elaborated on their own points, the below commentarty is from yours truly. These points are from MTV:

1. Set Design (Sounds like most of the scenes are depicted in New York, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that it would be done well, since offcourse Broadway is in New York and the fact that a street corner in New York can look the same as any other street corner in any other big city, especially if depicted on a small scale)

2. The Costumes (Just from the look of the above pic, I would say the costumes look good as well, however, I dont think the guy who broke multiple bones in his back, neck, and face would concur)

3. The Aerial Work (Same thing as number 2)

4. It's Family-Friendly (As long as the actors who prtray Spidey dont fall from 50 feet and break every bone in their body then cool, if I want my family to see such stunts then we will all watch Jack Ass)

5. "Splash Page" (The name of the opening musical number is Splash Page, so this has made the people at MTV happy. I know how they feel, whenever I hear about a ComicBookMovie I get the warm and fuzzies as well:)

Now for the 5 topics MTV did not like:

1. The Story (Sounds like the story flat out sucks, this shouldnt be a surprise, Comic Book Movies have never been on Broadway before for a reason. Just ask the guy who broke every bone in his neck, he probably thinks the story sucks too!)

2. The Acting (Nothing like having a flat actors for flat parts with a flat story)

3. The Music (You know it's bad when you are going to see a Musical and the Music sucks along with the Story, and the acting. Ewwwwwww.)

4. The Changes (This along with bad acting, bad story, and bad music are responsible for the bad show, one bad change is that Spidey got his costume from a Greek Goddess, sure go ahead and change the origin that made Spidey famous, why not? Why fix what isn't broke?)

5. The Difficulties (If what MTV is reporting is accurate then Spidey: Turn off the Dark is a complete turn off. Ending with a 5 minute gap at the end of the second act????)

Simpley put: WTF!?!

How do these production people convince their bosses that this is a good direction to go with, what is suppose to be, a Broadway Musical about Spider-Man? Based solely on the above information I would not waste any money in supporting this failed attempt by Broadway. Any support will make these yahoos believe they are doing the right thing and make another bomb of a Musical based on, oh lets say, The Avengers next time around. One could imagine how much of a fail that one would turn out to be after Broadway injected their Midas Touch on an already established franchise. Makes no sense!

Not counting that U2 concerts were postponed due to ????? My ticket for a Saturday night show in 2010 …it's now on a Wednesday night in 2011! Major downer!!

Bono, please stick with rock concerts before you loose your fan base and get CBMs and Broadway fans pissed at you too.

At least we know what it would be like if Fox made a spider-man movie now.

whoever wrote this article or the MTV one is a total douchebag. they basically just said everything sucks and made little jokes about Christopher Tierney's accident. in other words, trying to give what MOST people would want to hear about this show.

if anyone has heard any of Christopher Tierney's interviews then you can obviously tell the guy can't wait to get back to the show. can't even give a detailed review, MTV or whoever posted this is full of shit and anyone who just goes straight up and say "YEAH I KNEW IT WOULD SUCK!" is a mindless idiot
