Michael Keaton first played Adrian Toomes, a.k.a. The Vulture, in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming. After being defeated by the web-slinger, he landed himself behind bars and that was the last we saw of him...until the trailer for Morbius dropped. Somehow, Toomes is in another reality now, and the theories surrounding what might have led to that continue to stretch the imagination of fans.
It's possible that when Sony Pictures believed they would be producing Spider-Man 3 without Marvel Studios, Morbius is where we would have seen these Sony-owned characters start to cross paths. Now, in the wake of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Toomes might be a Variant or inadvertently sent to another part of the Multiverse alongside the other villains who know Spidey is Peter Parker.
Keaton has previously confirmed he was part of reshoots, and after recently suiting up as Batman on the set of Batgirl in Glasgow, Scotland, he's back in Los Angeles for something Vulture-related.
This appears to be the Sony Scoring Stage in Hollywood, meaning the actor might be required for ADR. It's also possible he's there to shoot promotional material or event content for the eventual Blu-ray. Regardless, it's beginning to look like Toomes will have a larger role in Morbius than we anticipated, and the studio must have a play of some sort for these villains in its "Spider-Man Universe."
We'll find out when Morbius arrives exclusively in theaters on April 1.
