SPIDER-MAN 3 Will Now Reportedly Start Shooting Early Next Year Instead Of This Fall

While it initially looked like production on Spider-Man 3 would overlap with Uncharted, a new report claims that the new plan at Sony Pictures is for cameras to start rolling early next year instead...

Spider-Man: Far From Home ended on a major cliffhanger, with the wall-crawler's secret identity outed to the world and Peter Parker framed for the murder of Quentin Beck/Mysterio. Originally, the plan was for the untitled sequel  (Spider-Man 3 ) to be released in theaters next July, but COVID-19 changed everything, and it's now been pushed back to December 17th, 2021.

Had things remained on schedule, production would have kicked off back in the summer. Later, it was moved to the Fall, with some overlap with the Uncharted movie Tom Holland is filming.

Holland himself actually pointed to this being the plan, with word on the next Spider-Man movie wrapping up by February. Now, though, it seems something has changed based on a report from The Direct. They claim that production has been shifted to "Winter 2021," meaning that cameras should start rolling on the Sony Pictures/Marvel Studios movie in January or February.

It now seems likely that between this rumoured production start date and when Spider-Man 3 is set to be released, the web-slinger's next adventure will actually be set during the winter as well. However, you have to hope this delay isn't going to result in the movie slipping further down the release calendar (and into 2022).

Time will tell on that front, but this is at least a semi-positive update on plans for the threequel.

OT.... CBM needs to do just a story on ALL of Hulks mind blowing Powers and Abilities. Hulk is truly one of the most complex characters in all of comic book world. So much more then just unlimited strength and healing powers.

This I’m gonna take issue with because that means one of the 2022 movies will have to move and I’m not ok with that. No way they meet that November 2021 release date if they start shooting next year.

I’m fine with the wait being a little longer. This year is (fortunately) three-quarters of the way done anyway.

If they dont go the typical CGI battle for the last act, they might still hit their mark for Dec 2021.

Also i wonder if the house of mouse is secretly filming a lot of B Roll, stand in and other footage on sets to get ahead of this whole pandemic thing and keep their places in the theaters

Seems like Far From Home came out forever ago. Can’t believe there hasn't been any new MCU content since then. They need to release Black Widow already.

Last I read, according to the film rights, Sony has 3 years to get a Spider-Man film into theaters. Far From Home was July 2019. That means Spider-Man 3 HAS to be in theaters by July 2022. Right now, that film is scheduled December 2021. I just don't know if Sony can start filming in early 2021 a new film and have it in theaters less than a year. If this report is true, I would expect Sony might be planning to push the film back at least a couple months.

If Marvel plans to start filming Doctor Strange 2 in November, I'm kind of expecting Marvel and Sony might swap dates again between that film and Spider-Man 3. With Doctor Strange 2 taking the December spot (or possibly its previous November date) and Spider-Man 3 dropping in March 2022. If this report is true, the dates would sort of support that swap.

Nobody cares about Uncharted, everybody wants Spiderman 3.

I don't think that filming can start before the end of the flu season, so march 2021 is a safe bet for a start of filming.
