Spider-Man: No Way Home included five (six if you count Venom) sinister villains, but the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, and Electro were the movie's true big bads. They all took the fight to Peter Parker in a major way, though it was Norman Osborn who dealt the biggest blow to the web-slinger.
After killing Aunt May, the Goblin pushed Spider-Man to his limit, and a closer look at the villain has now been revealed courtesy of concept artist Josh Nizzi. He explains that an early suggestion was for those goggles to have once belonged to Doc Ock, while "the idea was that he used parts from his glider to upgrade his suit - you can see the missiles and guns from it as well as structural parts."
Talking of Otto Octavius, we also learn that Nizzi was tasked with "exploring how the nano from the Iron Spider might mesh with him. At the time I think the idea was more of a power-up for him rather than a way of controlling his arms." Finally, we have a very cool take on Electro with a closer look at how Max Dillon incorporated one of Iron Man's Arc Reactors into his costume.
We love seeing designs like this, and Spider-Man: No Way Home's "Art of" book can't get here soon enough. As fun as it is to see how these characters could have looked on screen, it's how these changes would have impacted the story (like the Goblin having Ock's goggles) that are most intriguing.
