SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Producer Amy Pascal On Keeping The Movie's Secrets Under Wraps

Spider-Man: No Way Home has been the subject of many supposed leaks. Recently, Spider-Man-franchise producer Amy Pascal addressed keeping the movie under wraps despite its scope and popularity.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is one of the most highly anticipated films of the past two decades. Much of the hype surrounding the film can be attributed to the endless speculation regarding Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's rumored return as their respective versions of Peter Parker, as well as the movie's exploration of the multiverse.

Throughout the past few months, many supposed No Way Home set pictures have surfaced online, and for the most part, those involved with the film have (understandably) remained quiet about them. Recently, however, longtime Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal shared her thoughts on keeping Peter Parker's newest film a secret.

Talking to Fandango, Pascal was asked if No Way Home had been the most challenging Spidey movie to keep under wraps due to its scope. The producer responded by alluding to the aforementioned reported leaks, before explaining that the secrecy surrounding No Way Home boils down to wanting audiences to be surprised when watching the film:

"Boy, you could probably answer that question. You know. Yes, we've been [...] We don't want to spoil things for people, you know? That's one of the problems with movies is that people know everything before they walk into the theater. So, we've been trying to make sure people get the full theatrical experience when they go to the movie. And yeah, you try to never confirm anything in any movie, but this one is a big one."

The numerous leaks and rumors about Spider-Man's newest big-screen adventure have led many to build up very specific expectations for the movie, but that may not be the best idea. During an interview with Empire Magazine (via Inside the Magic), Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige cautioned fans against this, stating: "Rumors are fun, because many of them are true, and many of them are not true. The danger is when you get into the expectations game of wanting people to be excited about the movie they get, and not disappointed about a movie they don't get."

It's difficult to believe, but Spider-Man: No Way Home is coming out in just a couple of weeks, so we're quite close to learning all the surprises that Marvel Studios and Sony have in store for us. Peter Parker's third solo adventure in the MCU will arrive in theaters on December 17, 2021.

She nailed the expectations thing. That was definitely us during wandavision and many people were disappointed by who didn't show up or wasn't revealed.

I've truly learned my lesson and rolling with the punches now

@Waddles - WandaVision threads were lit and so much fun. The expectations that came with it was not. I have found a happy medium with these things. Spider-Man Is something that I haven't speculated on much because some of the things are pretty obvious

@Kadara - same lol it's fun as hell but man these things can't really live up to your expectations

@MyCoolYoung - Personally, I love to do theories, basic and wild ones, but I never go into the shows/movies thinking they come to light.

A LOT of people are not the same ahahaha.

@MyCoolYoung - well it was Kevin who said that quote. I doubt Amy cares about our expectations after the TASM franchise

@Menks123 - I do love to theorize I just got caught up. I think mephisto was influencing me or something

@JFerguson - I misread it and thought it was Amy. He nailed that though. Even if I’m hyped for a film I try not to have expectations for what’s going to happen.

Infinity war was a beautiful experience because I didn’t know what was going to happen but I had no expectations outside the snap

@MyCoolYoung - 100% agreed. I got so into the fan theorizing, week after week, obsessing over the show, expecting it to be bigger and more impactful... expecting the MCU on the small screen. I imagine WandaVision would've probably have been better received without all the nonsense surrounding the comments, the fan theories etc. It was a huge disappointment in the end. Falcon was even worse. I just wanted a Winter Soldier on the small screen but the action and stakes were so light and non-existent. I had zero expectations going into LOKI and it was the only show I really enjoyed. With Hawkeye I wasn't even anticipating it, and it's so bland so far that I'm kind of indifferent to D+ Marvel shows now.

@globaltravels - I’ve enjoyed them all to varying degrees. When I looked back at WandaVision I thought it was good. It had some really good episodes even if the finale was a bit rushed.

I got some enjoyment out of falcon and buck they bit off more than they can chew theme and character wise.

I think Hawkeye is really solid so far. Street level stakes and Clint’s ronin past not being ignored.

@MeAreLegend - That Gif alone makes me want Giancarlo as Mephisto instead of Professor Xavier.

@Waddles - I cheered for Hela, Mysterio, and Thanos. Those were some great villains. Mephisto needs to also have a lingering reoccurrence like Loki and not a one off.

Whatever is going on behind the scenes and whatnot, I can't just get excited this movie. Neither from official marketing or the leaks. Freshman Year is something I look forward too though
