SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Star Andrew Garfield To Take Hiatus From Acting After Next Project

Those hoping to see Andrew Garfield back in the suit as The Amazing Spider-Man following his recent role in No Way Home may be disappointed, as the actor is set to take a hiatus after his next film.

Andrew Garfield returned as The Amazing Spider-Man for Spider-Man: No Way Home to an overwhelmingly positive response, and fans have been campaigning for Sony Pictures/Marvel Studios to bring the Academy Award-nominated actor back for more adventures ever since.

There have been persistent rumors that another project featuring Garfield's version (or, variant) of Peter Parker is already in the works, with one report even claiming that a third TASM movie is in development (it isn't).

While Garfield might well reprise the role of Spider-Man down the line, it sounds like we could be waiting a while to see him back in the red and blue.

During an interview with Variety, the actor revealed that he plans to take a hiatus from acting after his upcoming series, Under the Banner of Heaven. "I need to recalibrate and reconsider what I want to do next and who I want to be and just be a bit of a person for awhile," he said. "Because as you know, that is a washing machine, that awards season. I need to just be a bit ordinary for a while."

Garfield didn't give any indication of how long his break would last, but it seems safe to assume he won't be suiting-up as the wall-crawler again any time soon! This really isn't all that surprising, as he was always unlikely to rush back to the MCU/SPUMC following No Way Home, anyway, but it would seem to put all those rumors to rest.

Nerds are [frick]ing relentless, first Affleck, now Garfield...leave them alone, they have serious careers, stop bullying them about returning to super hero roles.

Can definitely understand why he wants a break. Still, I do hope we'll get to see him return for an Amazing Spider-Man 3 one day.

Good for him. Everyone needs a break from burnout. Hope he’s back to work soon though because he is great. In my opinion, he should have won Best Actor for Tick, Tick…Boom.

Isn't this exactly what Tom Holland said publicly while negotiating for Spider-Man money?

Not saying it's impossible, but these big franchise actors always say stuff like this when the studios want to sign them for more films.

".....and who I want to be"

Actors always say this and I have no idea what it means.

Man has been consistently been grinding out projects for awhile now. He's earned it. Hopefully he gets some good writers for another Spidey solo.
