The scene opens with an overlook of New York City. Peter Parker is narrating. "I am Peter Parker. I have been The Amazing Spider-Man for a full year now. I have a stable job at The Daily Bugle and I live with my Aunt May. I lost my Uncle Ben when I was 15. He always told me 'With great power, comes great responsibility.' I promise to protect this city and all inside it. I will not let anyone lose a loved one as I did. I protect... No... I wish... Ugh. Let me start again." The scene shows Peter reading Gwen Stacy a speech that he prepared to read to the public announcing he's Spider-Man. Gwen Stacy and Harry Osborn are the only people that know Peter Parker is Spider-Man. As Peter is talking to Gwen there is an explosion downtown. Peter looks on his crime watchers website to see where the explosion was centered. It was centered at Oscorp and Peter rushes over there to save the day and get pictures for The Daily Bugle.
He notices a man emerge from the flames of Oscorp. He calls himself The Shocker. A known hitman for The Kingpin. Spider-Man battles The Shocker but he gets away. Shocker goes to a large building in the middle of New York. He activates a secret pad and looks as if he is teleported inside. The teleportation pad was created by Jonathan Ohn and Alistair Smythe. Shocker appears in The Kingpin's Penthouse. Kingpin greets him with a question, "Did Osborn get the message?" "I'd say he did." "Now we'll see if Osborn tries to skip out on our deal again." Unaware that he was followed Shocker continues to converse with Kingpin. Spider-Man is right outside the door listening in through one of the tinted windows. He realizes that Norman Osborn, his best friend's father, is working with the Kingpin. He bursts through the window with his spider strength. He battles The Shocker again. Kingpin escapes with Smythe and Ohn. Shocker gets taken down by Spider-Man and left for the police.
After the fight Peter goes home and makes up an excuse for Aunt May. Kingpin learns of Shocker's incarcination at Ravencroft and makes Smythe build a Spider-Slayer and he discovers that Ohn is gone. Smythe, "Skipping out on us no doubt." It turns out that Ohn left during the fight. The next day at school, Peter tells Gwen and Harry what he heard at Kingpin's penthouse. Harry begins to tell Peter about his ideas to try out for the football team. Peter ignores Harry when he hears that a hit has been put on Spider-Man. Peter ditches school and goes into battle in the middle of town square. Spider-Slayers are destroying buildings and homes looking for Spider-Man. Kingpin watches the battle on the TV from his penthouse with Smythe and his new hired hitman, Hammerhead. Spider-Man eventually beats the robots and heads home.
At the end, Peter tells Gwen and Harry that he decided not to release his speech to the public. "If the bad guys knew who I was, Aunt May would be in grave danger. You and Harry would be in danger. The Spider-Slayers destroyed the city looking for me. Imagine what they would do if they knew where to look. I can't risk that." The scene closes with Kingpin talking to Hammerhead and Smythe, "Spider-Man has won and he made us look like fools. He wont get away with this. We wont let him. This is far from over."
