New Spider-Man Game in the Works by Sony?

Well, it's about that time, isn't it? Rumors of an "Untitled Spider-Man PS4 Project" has been brought up by a NeoGaf user. If true, will this be the Spidey game that ultimately lives up to 2004's Spider-Man 2?

Geez, Sony! First you constantly tease us about the return of Crash Bandicoot, now you're having us believe that the guys behind inFamous & Sly Cooper games are secretly making a new Spider-Man game? 

Sucker Punch...                                                    



This supposed rumor comes from a NeoGaf user by the name of vslainto, they got the info from @Nerd_Leaks. Apparently the new game starring the titular character has been worked on for a while now & will be part of an exclusive deal between Activi$ion & Sony. Will it be based on next year's "Spider-Man: Homecoming" movie, or will it be something entirely different?

We shall find out at E3 2016, sheeple!

Doubt it's based off Homecoming when the script was still being (if not still is) made during the time-frame given.

Also favorite Spidey game is a toss-up between the first ASM game, Spidey 2000, or Ultimate Spider-man

@Retribution13 - They were working on an open world Spider-Man game for the upcoming movie. They knew it'd either be SM4 or a reboot so yes, you can definitely work on a movie tie-in before you know the story. Seeing as this would be their first Spidey title it makes even more sense... considering they have to pretty much create compelling gameplay mechanics from scratch.

Calling complete and utter bullshit.

Sucker Punch have been the wet dream game studio for Spidey fans for years.

Second no way Marvel would only do PS4 and not Xbox One to maximum profit.

Third a Marvel console game? Marvel focuses on mobile games now.

@LEVITIKUZ - since Activision may be publishing I wouldn't be surprised if it is cross platform. I also don't think Marvel own the video game rights so it isn't down to them, I could be wrong though.

@LEVITIKUZ - Sony's console division is huge, it could've been an undisclosed part of their deal with Marvel, one game deal with extensions if sales are met. This kind of deal happened all the time to the studios here in Vancouver, but after Radical Entertainment fell they just stopped and now only EA Burnaby is left. Sad.

If you mean Sony as in Spider-man rights holder and not as in owners of PS4, I don't know that that would be legit. AFAIK, Marvel owns all of the rights to Spider-man with the exception being live-action and feature film rights. But they own television, merchandising, licensing, etc.
