Why is there so much hate on the Amazing Spider-Man movie?

Help me figure this out!

Ok the first thing I want to talk about is all of the hate on the up and coming movie "the amazing spider man"

Why does everyone hate on this film just because of the suit and the actor? Andrew Garfield is a decent actor and he has the right body type for "the amazing spider man". The problem I have with is, that everyone is judging a book by the cover. Why not just wait until the film comes out to make youre opinion? Because when you just bash on this movie and it comes out to be the number one comic book movie of 2012 your not going to feel very bright.

I have had faith in every comic book movie since I can remember and some have failed pretty bad (green lantern) but that's not going to drive me to bash every CBM that is coming out.

I understand that everyone has their own opinion, but come on guys! Most of the people on this site have onl made an account to bash movies! What's the point??
Someone tell me why everyone has to be rude and constantly bash these films!

Please?

Andrew Garfield is a good Parker, but he is not even close to a high school student.

Also the sun glasses on the eyes and their size are bad.
And no web-shooters. Web-shooters are lame.

...because its too soon for a reboot, they're retelling the origin story, which we don't need, and the trailer wasn't convincing enough.

True, I agree with the size of the "glasses" but it just shows that he didn't have the materials to make a great suit. And he is wearing shoes, Not boots. But I feel that the web shooters are an amazing idea. It's what spider man originally had and I feel like it will be a good change from ramies spider man films.

JeremyC - 7/19/2011, 10:28 PM
And maybe a reboot is what we actually need to be pulled into another spider film. All of ramies films were good, but focused to much on the lover between parker and mj. I don't think this will be as much of a love story, and that's what the spidey films need. In my opinion anyway.

The movie looks fine to me......I am a big DC fan but this movie does have me pretty pumped for it.
@gamecreatorjj- Indeed Ghost Rider 2 is a stupid idea.....but has that stopped them before?

@thegoddamnsuperguy are you nuts? This looks nothing like green lantern.
@blaze I love DC as well, green lantern just wasn't what I expected. But this film looks pretty good. The teaser was just enough to send it over the edge for me. Spidey is one of my all time favorite so I'm pretty exited.
And on ghost rider 2.... Ugh. I hope the pull out all of the stops with that, and make it a rated r movie. With blood and gore. And a real BlackHeart charactor.

Because every prequel and premature reboot hurts the cbm genre when it comes to the general public... Prequels suck right off the bat and they are never as sucessful as the original movies. Star wars being the exception, but 20+ years had passed since the original movies. If the prequel story is so important, it should have been told in the first place and you already know the future of the character(s). So any danger they are in is is not exciting because you know they're not gonna die... and no series should be rebooted unless too much time has passed to continue the original series. Superman should have been rebooted, tmnt has to be rebooted, batman barely got away with it. But hulk was too soon andwe just had a spiderman movie a few years ago.

MoonDoggyX - 7/20/2011, 5:12 AM
We need the general audience so that our cbm can have big budgets and be awesome. All these early reboots and prequels are making the comic book movie universes as fractured and mixed up as the comics universes (dc and marvel) are. Its one of the reasons why the general public doesn't tke comic books too serious literaraly. We don't want them to stop takin CBM's seriously and see every new release as "just another comic book movie" that they can wait to red box or netflix

the origin story was in 2002, and then after that the sequel and the third movie came out later in 2004 and 2007. the Amazing Spider-man orgin will take place 10 years after the first origin story. you keep thinking the reboot is too soon but it's been long enough to tell the origin of spider-man again while with hulk the first origin was in 2003 while the incredible hulk was in 2008. that was five years ago so it was too soon to do a rebooted orgin of hulk again.

I don't know if it's going to be bad, but I don't know if it's going to be good. It's done nothing to sway me one way or the other. I need to see a trailer, afterall. I don't like how their rebooting the franchise. They either should of left Spider-Man alone or made a sequel to 3. Spider-Man 3 was really not as bad as people make it out to be. It wasn't on the level of Hulk, and it certainly wasn't as ad as Batman & Robin. Anyways, as much as i hate the reboot, there is nothing I can do to stop it. In the mean time I'm completely neutral on the movie.

I judge films WAY before they come out. In December, I said Green Lantern would fail. Got that. I've said "Amazing Spider-Man" will fail because of: Garfield, the director, lame villain. Now don't get me wrong. I like Spider-Man. My expectations for this are just extremely low.

i think people are hatein too much, garfield is an outstanding actor and imo he looks perfect for the role, and as for the "raimi movies are great" people...sorry to burst ur bubble but the raimi movies were mediocre, ur just all sayin that cause it was the first big screen take on the character and u maybe, like me, grew up with it, but cmon it was cheesey, unfaithful to comics and peter revealed his identity and cried every movie....plus 3 was an abortion, that 70s venom -.- my only criticism is the mask, the eyes are too small,i gather that this is the ultimate universe and ultimate spidey was known for the large white eyes
kong
kong - 7/20/2011, 8:05 AM
I didn't want garfield to play him and i couldn't imagine him looking like peter until i saw the teaser.

And people The Incredible Hulk wasn't a reboot ot me, considering wherte he was with the story and that in the opening credits they showed footage of the first movie. Just because the original actor isn't back for the movie doesn't mean it's a reboot. If that was the case then yo fanboys should be complaining about James Bond.

superbatspiderman - 7/20/2011, 9:08 AM
It is just too early for a reboot especially since the previous franchise was good even the 3rd one, yes I said it. The original Spider-Man movie is one of my favorite movies. I was 7 when the original movie came out and I still love it alot.

Blitzed - 7/20/2011, 10:15 AM
@Yossarian Thats the second dumbest comment of the day. So, because of one shot in the teaser you assume the entire movie is first person?! What makes you think its any more than 'a shot here or there'? Its probably the opening web swinging sequence if anything.

The suit looks cool. I wished that the webs would have stayed "internal", but having web shooters does bring some interesting obstacled to overcome. The Lizard? The way this story should have been done is Kraven comes to New York to hunt The Lizard monster in the sewers when Spidey gets in his path to protect Doc Conners. Kraven then decides to add Spidey as well as the Lizard to his trophy room. That at least would have been better than Spiderman Three. Even though I thought Thomas Hayden Church was awesome as Sandman.

Here are the reasons for hate:
1. Fans who don't want a reboot - I was one of those people who thinks it is stupid to have Spider Man rebooted, but after seeing some of the things I like it. Though that doesn't mean there are still people that love Sam Raimi's SpiderMan and doesn't want to see the movie.
2. The Tone - Thanks to tone of Twilight, everybody forgot that Spider-Man's original story did in fact deal with teen drama and angst (that is one of the very reasons why Spider-Man stories were good); so pretty much everybody will criticize it for being too Twilightish (even though I see Spider-Man as the Anti Twilight; more action and better story telling).
3. Butthurt DC fans - Notice this from TheGODDAMNSUPERGUY, but he seems to be comparing Green Lantern to this movie (even though the possible problems I see in this movie are different from GL). Due to some misguided sense of pride, these fans woould decide to make this film look like crap to make future DC movies look better (still, don't understand why they would deemed GL crap when it is better than all the other crap DC movies they usually see).
4. Web Shooters and Costume- This deserves a face palm for stupidity. The costume is an interesting redesign of the original and the web shooters was a better concept than organic webs.
5. Director - So Marc Webb only does music videos, big whoop. He manage to bring out an interesting perspective with that first person angle for Spider-Man's movement. On a side note, I always wanted to make a super hero video game done entirely in first person perspective.

The web shooters are a good change in pace. And I think they will bring something to the film that wasn't in ramies films. And yes spider man ( 1, 2, 3 ) were good. I loved them. But I feel like Garfield fits Parker and will bring more depth to the character. Plus (the amazing spider man) originally had web shooters.

Spidey used web shooters for over 50 years in the comics. i thought people around here liked when they stuck to the comics...

@CorndogBurglar

The hypocrisy of comic book movie fans, they would find new ways to criticize a movie they hate; inspite of how true to the source the movie is.

X-Men First Class and Green Lantern are some of the best examples.

People are stupid. The film's going to be great. The eyes and the shoes look funny, ok quit crying over spilt milk. nothing can be as bad as george clooney's batman nipples. the movie's gonna come out and all the haters are gonna pretend that they never hated in the first place. and how can people say that he doesnt fit the part. tobey maguire looked like his [frick]ing hair was gonna fall out. Thumbs up on the article.

@Corndog - I've always thought that the shooters were dumb even in the comic... the organic webbing was one thing that I really like about the Raimi movies. It makes a lot more sense than a kid getting bit by a radioactive spider and then inventing web shooters to help him be a superhero. That always really bothered me. Its a little too deliberate...

First I am getting sick of the same origin movies over and over again , and second I think the point of view stuff is going to be bad , it kind of reminds me a bit of cloverfield crap and filmed in 3d it may turn off alot of people or even make them sick .
