Speaking with Crave Online, Man Of Steel screenwriter David S. Goyer talked about the possibility of introducing Lex Luthor in a sequel. He gives his take on how Superman's arch-nemesis should be portrayed on the big screen, comparing it to the first film's approach to Lois Lane. "If Lex is going to exist in the world, we would presumably have to give him the same treatment that we gave Lois Lane in the first film, which is make him a credible character. He’s the corollary to being a good love interest; he’s gotta be a man of incredible intelligence, and presumably a man of incredible wealth and incredible resources." Despite being in nearly every Superman film so far, Luthor is one of the most key characters in the Man of Steel's mythology, and will likely be brought back sooner rather than later (especially with acknowledgment of LexCorp's presence in Man Of Steel). Goyer also talked about a couple of comic book movies that he has worked on in the past: WB/DC's
The Flash and New Line'
Y: The Last Man. He worked on the former years ago, and was even planning on directing the adaptation. However, his take on the Scarlet Speedster has been shelved, with the
Green Lantern scribes hired to write a new script years ago (we haven't heard anything official on the Fastest Man Alive's big screen debut since). Goyer had this to say when asked if his script could end up being revived.
"It’s possible! It’s still a script that people like, and I think a lot depends on how well this movie does over the next few weeks." As for
Y: The Last Man, which has newcomer Dan Trachtenberg attached to direct, Goyer says that he's still attached to the Vertigo comic book adaptation. He also says that it could begin shooting in 2014.
"We’ve got a script that’s as close as it’s ever been, so knock on wood. That could go into production next year." When asked if there are plans to make it a film franchise or to just adapt the comic book series into one film, Goyer states that,
"The first movie is meant to function as a standalone, but hopefully continue. Hopefully there will be others." Do you want to see a
