Talking to MTV News, British actor Henry Cavill has discussed the delayed release of Man of Steel as well as his excitement over the project and an early meeting he had with Russell Crow (Jor-El in the upcoming movie) when he was just an extra. With more interviews expected to hit over the next couple of days now that The Immortals panel has wrapped and the press got their hands on the next Superman, stay tuned for more as we have it.

"They broke it to me gently," the actor told MTV News earlier today when asked about the delayed release of Man of Steel to June 14th, 2013. "I was just told the other day. It's OK, it's nothing to do with me. That's stuff which I have no control over. I just focus on the character and do my job."

When quizzed about taking on the role of the iconic superhero, he said he's "prepared enough" but anxious to start production. "I'm really raring to go. It's exciting, humbling, and about time to get started."

Cavill couldn't reveal any further details about the upcoming movie, but did confirm the involvement of Russell Crowe (who we already know will be playing Jor-El from reliable sources, but not CONFIRMED by the studio) in the movie while recounting his first meeting with the actor in the early days of his acting career.

"I walked up to Russell, shook his hand, and said 'I'm thinking of becoming an actor. What advice do you have?' He said to me ... No, I won't say what he said! Two days later, I received an Aussie rugby jersey, a [CD] and a signed picture from 'Gladiator' [with a note that read] 'Dear Henry, A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, Russell.' Cut to 11 years later, at what is the high point of my career, and here we are."

STARRING:

Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman
Amy Adams as Lois Lane
Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent
Diane Lane as Martha Kent
Michael Shannon as Zod

RELEASE DATE: June 14th, 2013.

2 years?! [frick] what a bummer. I was excited to watch a Superman movie around christmas time and it would feel like the right atmosphere for the most popular superhero ever.

But 2 years? i mean im happy they've figured out sooner than later that they need more time to iron out things and to get the script right but its a let down for me. I was looking forward to batman and supes in the same year.

I bet these guys are pretty good friends outside of the interview scene...this is like the third time I've seen this guy interview Henry. They taped an interview last year at comicon right after Henry was cast where they just walked around and talked about everything movies. I like these ones better then most, they just seem more natural then the other ones you see...

I so excited and can't wait to see a zack snyder superman film. I hope the look of the film is similar to sucker punch and watchmen. The look of those films are just different from what is traditionally seen in other movies.

It's interesting that Cavill and Crowe have that history together. He could be the reason Cavill is an actor today by giving him that little push he needed to make up his mind. Crowe must've really saw something in Henry that he liked cuz not every actor does that. Especially with Crowe, with his history who would've ever thought he would do such a nice thing like that lol.

Seeing the excitement and anticipation in Cavill just made me even more excited for this film. It's definitely gonna be great!!

@Julez13. I was thinking just that! That would be pretty cool if Crowe happened to be one of Cavill's influences in becoming an actor. Really can't wait for this film!

Still disappointed that the movie is going to be delayed til June 14th 2013. If they kept it on the original release date December 2012 I would've been able to see it on my birthday. My birthday is on X-MAS but can only see it the next day due to being X-MAS.

Hope they ACTUALLY get this SUPERMAN movie "RIGHT" haven't seen a good SUPERMAN movie (live action) since SUPERMAN II which came out in 1980

@CG21- Yeah man...been a long time waiting for at least a half-decent Superman movie. They make it seem soooo [frick]ing hard to make one.

Once this movie gets made...I seriously hope WB loses the rights to Superman. Maybe then we can get a studio that actually knows Superman and KNOWS the fanbase.

[frick] warners.
