TVShowsOnDVD revealed today that the 2006 Aquaman TV pilot from Smallville creators Alfred Gough & Miles Millar and starring Justin Hartley will be on the complete-series Smallville DVD set, due out later this year.(Sadly, TVShowsOnDVD also confirms that the right-resolution copies of Smallville - while high definition - are NOT good enough for a Blu-Ray release).

@L0ki Could you please edit your comment, it's stretching the comments section.

I'm actually kinda pissed Mercy Bay never got picked up. It looked like it had more potential than Smallville. Seemed like it would have been less romance and more action to me.

Maybe they could include the Wonder Woman TV pilot too.
Or just save it for the 'WB Pilots That Never Took Off' DVD.

I've seen that pilot. I thought it was pretty decent and could have made a good series or even mini-series. Justin Harley and Ving Rhames did a nice job and the story was better than most TV shows. However, I bet that all of the filming in water would have been expensive.

Imagine if WB would plan a one-year, 13 episode show for each of its major characters (who aren't planned for movies). That would allow the character to develop without getting caught up into vague story lines of this romance or that teen angst.

The series pilot was created by the same guys behind Smallville, then was cancelled by WB - that was before the fourth season.

So the producers loved Justin Hartley and invited him to play Oliver Queen in Smallville.

That's all.
