Martian Manhanuter Returns to Smallville

Martian Manhanuter Returns to Smallville

It seems like the Society is getting bigger in Smallville, as it is reported that aside from Hawkman, Dr. Fate, and Stargirl another hero will be joining them.

Drum roll please... the Justice Society episodes will feature the return of Martian Manhunter.

Sorry to disappoint in that he is not a new character, but the reappearance of our favorite Martian is always a welcome.

Here's a portion from the EW report:

Smallville’s upcoming Justice Society-themed two-parter has added another headliner. Exec producer Kelly Souders confirms that the highly anticipated eppys (titled “Society” and slated to air in early 2010) will mark the return of Phil Morris as Martian Manhunter.

The exec also reported that they wanted it to be a two-parter so that we won't miss anything, because there are many characters and great moments it felt like it robbed the experience if it was kept to one episode.

The episode is written by fan favorite Geoff Johns.

---
This two-parter is getting sweeter and sweeter. I'm really all out for live adaptation of these characters. It just shows that there is life beyond the 2d colored pages.
-access out, Godspeed

This episode is getting better and better. I can't wait for it and this season is definitely on a different level than any of the other seasons. The level being [frick]ing awesome.

Martian Manhunter is definitely one of the coolest characters that Smallville has brought, i hope they show him as a martian in one of the episodes though.

By the way...anybody know if the Society is supposed to come from another Earth? Or do they already exist somewhere in Smallville's world and they just cross paths with Clark?

Good! Now give him his powers back!

Bamf7 - I can only assume that they will be from earth-2. In the show The Legion came from the future just like in the comics, so I don't see why not! Smallville has always been good at adhering to its own established continuity and I can't see Geoff Johns opening a potential can of worms by explaining the JSA as being from the earth-1!

Phil Morris does a great job as the MARTIAN MANHUNTER wasnt he on a mid 70's series mission impossible? Only thing I dont like about his role is what the writers doing with him. I dont understand how he lost his powers...didnt he fly into the sun or something? Isnt fire his weakness? He just seems really powered down on Smallville even when he had all his powers.

@Blade No he was in the version of the show that came out in 1988 that lasted 2 seasons. He played the son of the black guy from the original MM series who was the technology expert. In fact the actor from the original 1960s show is his real life father. I really liked both shows and hated the Mission Impossible movies because they made Jim Phelps a bad guy. And was like where is the rest of the team like Barney and his son Grant.

Oh o.k. he looks alot like his dad....yea I liked that series also. I thought they used Ving RHAMES to play Morris part should've just used Phil.

BLADE4040 - You're thinking of his father GREG Morris, who was on M:I in the '60s!
