The Producers of Smallville Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders have attempted to convince Rosenbaum to reprise his role as legendary comic book villain Lex Luthor for the series final season of the hit DC show. The actor as yet has not accepted.

From Brian Peterson:

"So far, unfortunately, the actor has not accepted. "You know what, if it's roses [that will convince him], we've done that. If it's dinner, we've done that [too]."

From Kelly Souders:

"We love him, and he's such a talented actor and brought such life to Lex Luthor."

Also Souders talked about why so many characters are returning for Season ten.

"This [final] season is a lot about Clark confronting the ghosts of his past, and I think he has something to learn from everybody."

"When we looked back at these nine seasons, [we] tried to bring something out of it we've seen before, but [with] a new twist."

"I can't think of anybody who has been on the show where we wouldn't have a clear idea of what their story is."

Smallville is returning for a final time on CW January 28, 2011 for the second part of the last season.

LEEE777 - Well all I can say is I hope he does or I will personally feel cheated out of watching the last ten years of Smallville, how about you?

yeah after this long i mean at least one episode!!! it would be lame to have a different lex and it would suck to end without him

I find it a little ridiculous that he won't come back for at least one episode, yet he's going to appear with Cassidy Freeman, Erica Durance and Justin Hartley at the "Superheroes Convention" in May.Smallville is the whole reason why he's invited.

I don't understand why they can't get him back.He left the show on good terms, he's still good friends with Welling and there's no animosity with the current producers. It's not like he's busy.He has a pilot for Syfy in development, but he isn't filming it yet.He doesn't have any movies or TV shows currently lined up.So what's the problem?

The best years of SMALLVILLE was when he was in it... look at it now.

Let him do what he wants to do, and it's not Smallville, just put a paper bag over Tom Wellings head and act out Luthors role, thats fine.

Hey mike..listen up..if i watched 10 f**kin years of this show, and you [frick] the last season cause you think you are special, i will never spend a single god damn dime on anything u do, star in, or even piss on. The time establishing your career on this show will be WASTED, or worse totally counter productive. I'm sure im not alone here, dont be such a whinny ass bag, take the damn bag of money, and do 15-20 mins of screen time.
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 12/29/2010, 3:39 PM
superdude @ But mostly all them other villains have been total sh1t?

i.e. = ZOD, DOOMSDAY etc etc.

I am ready to bet good money that this is just a disinformation campaign. MR has said many times in the past that he would be willing to come back for short periods if certain conditions were met. This is just the SV producers trying to make his appearance even more shocking.

I don't think that SV has done anything major for his career. He is/was the best young actor on the show, but no one is knocking down his door to cast him because of how great he was on SV. I bet his time as Flash did jut as much for his career as SV, SV just increased his celebrity.

Does Michael Rosenbaum think they will make a Smallville Movie?

I mean, I don't understand the rift between the show and this guy. Is he holding out hope for something specific?

I get that he is making plenty of money in Re-Run Royalities... but but but...

oh well, he is his own man I guess.

but this is the only thing people know you from...well this and Sorority Boys and one awesome episode of It's Always Sunny.

Lex Luthor dude. come back and get paid
RoClover
RoClover - 12/29/2010, 3:53 PM
Omg he looks like Dean Winters. So cute, the both of them... Dean and Michael sandwich...

Anyway: good for him! That show sucks and he can do what he wants with his time. He doesn't have to if he doesn't want to.

lexkal66 - 12/29/2010, 3:54 PM
hopefully it is a misdirection and he does appear for at least the end of the last episode if not all of it.

nuck @ : D

Harrison @ I'm thinking that too, fingers crossed.

Superdude @ Okay Zod ain't too bad a character, its the actor playing him I'm not to keen on hell the guy is exactly the same on Santuary too lol.

Tho your right theres much worst than him, at least his villain character is half enjoyable!

DEADSHOT and DEATHSTROKE are a total joke.

Damn wish they could at least try and make the villains half good in Smallville, I'm cringing how DARKSEID will turn out like!

lexkal66 @ 100% fingers crossed!

RoClover @ Dean and Michael sandwich...HAHAHAHA!

Yeah but season's 1 through 7 were pure gold!

(Ruined the show going to METROPOLIS and using villains men't for the big screen like Doomsday)

I bet he'll be back and they just us want to be really surprised. It just doesn't make any sense since Rosenbaum said he'd return if they let him keep his hair.

I read a spoiler that the next time we see the Lex clone he's a teenager and his hair grew back. So it's set up pretty nicely for Rosenbaum to return, hair and all.
otto
otto - 12/29/2010, 4:06 PM
why doesnt he just admit the only reason he doesnt want to come back is that he doesnt want to shave his head

SUPERDUDE @ Too true, Blur, Matrix Superboy = total pi$$ take lol.

Dude I just hope they save a big wad of the budget for DARKSEID or it'll turn out like poop.... still think DARSEID should be saved for the JLA movie and DOOMSDAY for a Death of Superman movie!

Superman4 @ : D

Now if he could act!!

Jay @ Hope so, hair or not we need him back!

otto @ For the finale all he really need to wear is one of them bald things anyways.

It seems like many are unaware that Rosenbaum is The Flash in the Timmverse. Granted I am a fan of the Timmverse, but I still think that that has done more for him than Smallville, especially since he prefers to do comedic roles, not serious ones.

Actually, if you look at his IMDB it seems he likes voice acting more than being on screen anyway.

---

No way in hell is he anything like Heigl and Alba. They are ungrateful bitches, there is a huge difference between bad mouthing movies that made you successful after the fact despite having done them with no qualms at the time, and choosing to stop doing something you no longer enjoy. Heigl and Alba are stuck up bitches who grossly overestimate their power and appeal, Rosenbaum is a guy who knows what makes him happy and does what he needs to do to achieve it.
