Serinda "Zatanna" Swan Still Grateful For Attention From SMALLVILLE Fans

Serinda Swan, who played Zatanna in Smallville, looks back at her time working on the controversial series and expresses her gratitude to fans who still praise her for her role opposite as the iconic DC character opposite Tom Welling's "Red/Blue Blur".

She only actually appeared twice in Smallville as Zatanna, but that hasn't stopped the beautiful Serinda Swan from developing a faithful fanbase from her time on the CW series. In an interview with IGN Movies, Swan was asked specifically about how she feels to have gained such a dedicated following, and had this to say about the fans she gained after playing the inconic DC character.

"They’re the craziest, most loyal, devoted fans. I love them. I wish I could have done more, I really, really do. I saw Tom [Welling] a couple months ago hiking, and I was like, “Hi, how are you! How you doing!?” It’s one of those shows that you hope your show turns out like. Ten seasons is crazy, but you want that family. I was on Season 8 or something like that and the joy that was still on the set, the fans that still cared, just in general, it was such a pleasure. To come on and play an iconic DC character -- most of my fan mail that I get is “Zatanna, Zatanna, Zatanna.” It’s all that. It’s little action figures and pictures and letters about how excited they were. I just sit there, and I’m like, “I’m so excited to be a part of your world. You guys made this world. I just got to come into it for a brief second and come out.” But I’m honored. That’s a cool thing. I think that’s what we’re all trying to do as actors, is create some sort of passion from people and allow them to have something to really care about and something they enjoy and look forward to on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, whatever it is, where you get to sit down and escape. Whether it be superheroes or undercover agents, just sit down and enjoy and be like, “I care so much about this that I’m going to sit down and write a letter.” I get them in crayon sometimes, and I’m like, “Oh my God! That is the cutest thing ever!” So yeah, I love Smallville. I always will. I think it was one of the major platforms to get me out here, so I always love them."

I thought she was great as Zatanna. I wouldn't mind seeing her reprise it down the road in some cameo capacity in a Justice League film.

I've watched all 10 seasons of smallville, but honestly I saw myself questioning clark everytime and rooting for the supporting cast instead of clark himself because he's so naive and maybe arrogant. the show was okay and had it's awesome moments.

I love how it is a "controversial" series or "shit" as described above. If people didn't watch it, it wouldn't have made it to 10 seasons. They said in the beginning, that it was a story about Clark Kent, not Superman. It didn't follow the comics? Well no it didn't...did that make it bad? No, it was different. OK, the finale I agree was kinda controversial with the CG Superman and the "S" shield that was too small for Welling's chest, but that didn't ruin the series for me. Aside from poor casting (i.e. Lana) I enjoyed it and I'm glad it went as far as it did.

Thought she was great at playing Zantanna. I would have loved to see a series with her. It would have been perfect. It could have her traveling around the world performing while fight magical villians. Hell they should do a Zantanna movie with her.

10 years. Argue all you want, hate all you want. It wasn't perfect but you can't beat 10 years. I don't see Arrow lasting that long with it's no super powers thing with DC Comics characters without pissing off the fans. "The show was shyt" 10 years. "The outfits were lame" 10 years. "It was cheesy" 10 years. Got our first Doomsday, Darksied, Green Arrow and many more. Perfect, no, but for a TV SHOW (stop trying to hold it up to movie standards) that ran week after week after week for all that time. they deserve some respect for sticking with that show for all of you. Any one of them could have left and never of come back but they stuck with it. Credit where it's due. 10 years.

I miss smallville. It was the characters that made it. Clark, Lois, Chloe, they were all their own thing and the chemistry was great.

wasn't a mega fan of her as Zatanna, but considering there's not really anyone else to compare her to in the role (yet).....she rocked it lol

Easily one of the sexiest women walking on the planet Earth.
She's a decent actress too.
Would indeed be great if she was Zatanna in a movie.

She did a very nice portrayal of Zatanna, and it was very nice of her to acknowledge her fans in the way that she did. It's too bad she can't appear in "Arrow" becase of the "no super powers" rule they have, but I am sure her fans would flip to see her on the small screen again.

Serinda is gorgeous and played Zatanna well. I watched all ten seasons of Smallville . I enjoyed it for what it was, an alternate universe of Clark becoming Superman. The finale was a let down when he wouldn't wear the iconic uniform.
