Smallville: Could There Be Talks of the Show Continuing?

Smallville: Could There Be Talks of the Show Continuing?

Michael Ausiello has posted one of his annoyingly frustrating blind items -- in which he doesn't disclose the specific subject he's talking about -- that's creating buzz that Smallville could be continuing beyond its announced 10th and final season.

By EdGross - Jan 13, 2011 02:01 AM EST

Here's what he writes: "A hit drama series whose final season was announced in the last 12 months may not be ending after all! Know which one yet? I’ll give you some clues…Though the network told the world that the plug had been pulled, apparently not everyone involved in the show was in agreement about that. In fact, to this day, talks are ongoing behind scenes to extend its run, one way (in its current form) or another (in a tweaked form or even as a series of TV movies). Sound like something’s rotten in the state of Denmark? Yeah, I’m with ya there."

Could this possibly be Smallville? What other show has announced its final season that could potentially return in the form of TV movies if not a regular series? "Something rotten in the state of Denmark" could be a clue that derails that possibility, but is there another show that fits the criteria?

Also, he notes that said show could return in a "tweaked form." Could this mean a spin-off with occasional appearances from Tom Welling as Clark Kent/Superman?

We welcome your thoughts on the subject.... And, Grif, we already know your thoughts.

just let the show f*cking die,its been advertised as the final season so it should be.

its been dragged out to long, why have a tv show with one "superman" in it played by that talentless knob tom welling & a movie version played by someone else.

it wouldn't make sense, zatanna tv show yes,but no more smallville.

Could be heroes like roscoe said. Wasent Tim Kring in talks about a tv movie to wrap the series up a few months ago?

Hmmm! It could be Heroes or Smallville.

I'd like to see Samllville sort of
return as "JUSTICE", bringing the
young JLA back as a series. Bring the story
more in-line with the canon of the
JLA.

Bring Clark back every now and again as
SUPERMAN and have GREEN ARROW/HARTLEY, BLACK
CANARY (with the long hair), AQUAMAN, FLASH
(IMPULSE), A young reincarnated HAWKMAN and
his young lover, reincarnated HAWKGIRL, a
young GUY GARDNER (GREEN LANTERN) and ZATANNA.
Have LOIS as the part-time operator of WATCHTOWER.

leave smallville in the past and focus on a decent superman movie dammit!

Caprica and Stargate Universe can be taken out of the mix because because they're both ratings challenged, to say the least. Law & Order: Criminal Intent has the same problem. Ghost Whisperer and Heroes were both cancelled in previous series, so they're already off the air and wouldn't meet the criteria.

Medium's been pretty anemic ratings-wise, and one picture a "tweaked" version or TV movies being considered.

Big Love would seem natural, except for the fact that the creators/executive producers have been pretty public stating that this is it, their story is told this year.

Sticking with the tweaked/TV movies notion, of all of the show names being thrown around, I would say The Closer and Smallville are the most likely candidates.

Intriguing find ED! I'd be ok with them continuing Smallville if Clark wore the suit as Superman on a permanent basis (enough of this "Blur" crap!) but it's time to pull the plug if not. A few TV movies would be very cool though.

I would be down with them Continuing Smallville in any way they want, Granted ther are some frustrating episodes, however when they give us those great moments they are golden however if I had a say I would push for a Legion of Superheroes show

This should have been called METROPOLIS 3 seasons ago...

Stupid... just spin it off as JSA or GREEN ARROW and do a good show! :)

@Ed...He could be suggesting Smallville, but something tells me it's not. Most (if not all) of the actors stated in countless interviews that it was time for the show to end. Sure, that doesn't mean they couldn't change their mind. If Welling isn't Superman in MOS, then I'd like to see TV movies where he's Superman (full actual suit). A JLA spin off TV movie would be cool, too, but I think they said that wouldn't happen, either. We'll see. Seems probable, though.

YES PLEASE
A 2 n half hour smallville movie *even if its just tv* with CGI movie effects...clark in the suit, with the glasses, erica durance, super suit..no chloe,no green arrow, bring lex,
there is your movie... :)
as SMALLVILLEs end marks the end of chris reeves, brandon routh and tom wellings supermen and then we have a brand new superman in 2012

No offense to anyone who likes this show, but honestly it kinda sucks. Clark Kent was Superman right out of High school. In this show Clark is like 33 and he STILL isn't Superman. The show isn't story if superman.

"Hit drama?" Probably not Smallville...Rescue Me, The Closer, Entourage, Law & Order, Ghost Whisperer, 24 (to name a few) are all way more likely ihmo

IF YOU PUT SUPERMAN BACK ON TV...EVERYONE WILL WATCH IT..HATERS FANS NOVICES AND KIDS..SERIOUSLY ITS AN EASY WIN..PEOPLE ARE TIRED OF WAITING, ITS BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE WE'VE SEEN A FULLY REALIZED SUPERMAN ON THE SMALLSCREEN, WHY IS IT THAT WHEN YOU STARTED INTRODUCING THE COSTUMES AND THE S ON HIS CHEST THE RATINGS JUMPED, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY PUT IT IN THE DEATH SLOT, PEOPLE WANNA SEE SUPERMAN ON TV AGAIN. IF SUPERMAN AND REOCCURING FULLY REALIZED JUSTICE LEAGUE WAS ON TV, COUNT ME AN A TON MORE VIEWERS IN..

I think GUNSMITH had it right, if they build it, they will come. People watched Lois & Clark, and it was not so great. A real Superman on TV, and drop some more JLA into it often, and possibly give the new show a better timeslot = success.
