Over at TVGuide.com, Smallville executive producer Brian Peterson got into a conversation about the fact that while Chloe Sullivan has been more or less on the sidelines this year, she will nonetheless be -- and actually has been -- playing a larger role this season.

"Chloe has been and always will be the lynchpin in Clark’s arc," Peterson explained. "What we’ve talked about in the writer’s room, is that for anyone who has been in the highs and lows of love over the course of their lives, there are a lot of different kinds of love. And we really see Chloe as the Mary Magdalene to Clark’s Christ. She may not have romance now, she may not have romance in the future, but how she loves him and the way she helps him grow as a character is paramount to him becoming Superman. And that is never going to change.

"As for her role this year," he added, "she has stepped out of the sidekick shadows and she has owned Watchtower and she is taking it upon herself while Clark is busy with Kandorians and Lois and being the Blur. She’s started to create the fledgling group that will eventually become the Justice League. So she’s basically in some ways running the show behind the scenes. We will start to unveil more and more of that as the season progresses. Chloe is a huge part of the back section of the season."

I have plans for Chloe! They involve a gun, a shovel, and salt in case she decides to come back as a hideous hook nosed Zombie bitch from HEll!..Which she is anyway. lol, not a fan of miss Sullivan.

This is sad news, I too want her gone(or at least changed), the character was tolerable when they were in high school, but her dialogue is still long winded and ultimately over-thought like that of a dorky high school girl, and there just isn't any excuse for it anymore.

haha nice Ror. agreed... she needs to get gone! and when that guy said something like "she helps Clark become the Superman he was always ment to be" or w/e, all she has done, dialogue-wise, is critisize(sp?.. wait... i don't care) Clark's alien heritage and his moral choices! "CLARK YOU CAN'T PUSH YOUR MORALS ON PPL!" "YOU'RE LETTING YOUR KRYPTONIAN SIDE GET THE BEST OF YOU!" and all that malarky! ridiculous!
having said that... she's a decent director! (hint hint!) ... for those who are too slow to get the hint--let her die off then take the directors chair!

I don't really like her, nor have I ever, but I see the point of having her. She is like the voice of reason, the motivation if you will, for Clark's decisions. I think what they have been building toward for some time is her inevitable death at the hands of someone REALLY bad (probably bring back Doomsday and he kills her), which will be the catalyst for Clark to finally take flight and become the full version of Supes we are all expecting. I mean, you all saw what happened when they killed off (*************spoiler alert for non-fans************) Jimmy last season. Clark finally got the 'S' on his chest and is embracing the superhero lifestyle.

All I'm saying is, kill Chloe, and Clark becomes the Man of Steel, and the show will basically end. I could be wrong, but that is what I would like to see happen.

What needs to happen is for Clark to use his Legion flight ring to travel back in time, save Jimmy, let Chloe DIE at the hands of Doomsday, and let it reset history to how it should be!
Oh yes, Chloe is the "lynchpin" all right. Pull her out, and everything will be GOOD!

That statement is really annoying.It's really odd that a character who doesn't appear anywhere in the mythos outside of the show is being made solely responsible for his evolution into Superman.Clark becomes Superman because he wants nothing more to protect the world that gave him a home when he didn't have one, because his parents raised him that way.Not because some bossy, annoying girl.

I'm surprised how many people like Chloe. I've never cared for her and always secretly wished for her death, because she's not a real character. When they revealed that she was Lois's cousin, I thought they should put her out of her misery, since Lois completely took the life that she wanted with the news and Clark. They could have ended her life so many times and I thought the writers would have with the actress demanding more money when her contract was up.

I see that they've evolved her character into a needed essential for the show, but they can give her a respectable death in season 10. Why? Because Barber Gorden is the Oracle, and I don't like the writers hinting that Chloe has that job. It's not right.

One of my all time favorite scenes of Smallville.

Chloe was OK for Clark when he was in high school
but the mythos is that Lois becomes the sidekick
to Clark! Never saw Chloe in any comic books!

They don't necessarily need to kill her off but
she needs to be less of an active character in
Clark's other identity as Superman! Lois needs to
take over in Clark's life and the Chloe character
needs to be phased out if Smallville is to follow
canon at all!

O.k. I know she isnt in the comic books or anything, but i have also learned that when watching comic books on tv and movies i have to give it some slack or else I would have destroyed my tv long ago.
But...I like Chloe, always have...always will. She is not B.G. nor will she ever be, and at first I thought this whole Watchtower thing was going alittle to far.
Always thought that once Clark got his balls back from Lana he would be the one, but now that he handed them to Lois in a nice neat package someone needs to get the ball rolling.

I think Chole has been stupid...a lot. It always annoyed me when she would be all "Clark you should be with Lana" then next episode "Clark, you should stay away from Lana" then "Clark, be happy with Lana" then "I'm watching you Lana! I know you want to hurt Clark!" Then it's "OMG! Thanks for coming to my wedding, Lana!"

The whole Davis story last season was crazy. I thought it was very selfish to blame her spending time with Davis on Clark and protecting his secret. She's the one who was running around with a guy who was in love with her, who she liked, and started ruining her own marriage. But of course, she said she did it all to protect Clark. Maybe a little bit, but not all the way. Davis must have known it too. Otherwise, he wouldn't have went so stark raving crazy and killed Jimmy after hearing that she never had feelings for him. That's not how the show was written before that point.

But Chloe all by herself is okay. I personally think Veronica Mars was a Chloe rip off, been joking about it for years. lol.

If Chloe left and found her own destiny, then I wouldn't advocate her death. I just want the girl to have her own life.

Wasn't Oliver the one that started the SV Justice League by recruiting Aquaman, Cyborg, & Impulse? And Dr. Hamilton the one that set up the Watchtower? Chloe recruits one kid (who isn't a super hero) from Tess's team and suddenly she is the one creating the Justice League?

Now that I think of it, Oliver is responsible for recruiting all the super members of the JL, he brought in Black Canary, Zatanna, and Speedy too didn't he?

Heroes is sucking, because the writing sucks. The Heroes aren't really heroes. They're people with powers. Hiro, the one who wants to be a hero the most, is a screw up. He's the master of time and space, but he screws up all the time. And they limited Peter's powers to one at a time. And Nathan was a hypocritical idiot who didn't make any sense.

And how can they give a spoiler of Nathan dying when he already died last season? Why didn't they just say "cast member leaving"? Everything done about that show is wrong.

And though Smallville doesn't have long or impressive fight scenes, they're always better than a door being shut in our faces while Claire watches through a crack. It's unfair that Peter and Sylar never got one real right. We've been waiting for that forever and stalling it for so long when those two are the only true formidable people is unfair to the fans.

I can't stand Chloe. After she knew Clark's secret, she only got progressively worse. Season 8's last half sucked and she got the main plot. This interview only made me want to punch the character. Chloe Mary Sue anyone?? Also, if there's one thing worse than Chloe, it would be her fans. I vote kill her off and laugh at the rabid Chloe fans moaning about their lack of Chloeavage and Chloeville and whatever else.
