The CW has confirmed that Smallville will indeed ends its 10 year run on May 13th with a two-hour finale which will conclude Clark's journey as he takes on Darkseid and fulfills his destiny of becoming Superman.

Here's the official statement:

The story of a young Clark Kent (Tom Welling) and his journey to become the Man of Steel has captivated audiences for a decade. This final season, Clark attempts to find a balance between saving the world, which becomes even more difficult as the Vigilante Registration Act separates a nation, and spending time with his new fiancée Lois Lane (Erica Durance). Whether it’s donning glasses as a disguise, changing in a phone booth or learning how to fly, this season has put Clark closer to his destiny than ever before. Taking on Darkseid and battling the darkest of his demons, this two-hour event will send Clark soaring towards his birthright to secure his place in history as the world’s greatest protector.

“Paying homage to 10 seasons is no small task, and wrapping up each character and story arc has been extremely important to everyone involved in the show,” said executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders. “We’re excited to be able to make the final moments of SMALLVILLE a television event, as the character we’ve grown up with makes his legendary transformation.”

I think they should make it a smallville tv movie and combine the last three episodes, and have him put on the suit and actually be superman in the whole thing.

@Deadshot yeah me too. He needs to be in the suit for at least that entire double length finale.

That only leaves Routh out of the suit. Although, I guess he got to wear it first! LOL

They are probably saving up all the budget for which will probably make the next 5 episodes really lame

Interesting. Who wants to bet now that it'll be a HUGE let down? :P The first half of the season had its moments, but yet another flying tease in the latest episode has me really [frick]ed off. Whoever said that the "no flights, no tights" rule HAD to apply until the very last episode!?

Next to Bud Collyer, who voiced him on the radio show, no one has spent more time playing Kal-El than Welling has. This is the longest incarnation of the character in its 70-plus year history. Some seasons have been great, some seasons and a whole bunch of episodes have been crap, but it's been a hell of a journey. And in my opinion, the past two years -- with the exception of a few missteps along the way -- have done the character proud. He may not be wearing the uniform, but Welling as Clark Kent has absolutely been projecting Superman.

The haters can hate as much as they want. It doesn't matter as this chapter of the Superman mythos prepares to be closed before the next one begins. Smallville made a lot of mistakes along the way, but it accomplished a hell of a lot, too.

awesome...but we all know the last scene/few minutes will be him in the suit..he might be flying thru out the episode, but once he puts the suit on the show is over..cuz it's no longer about Clark, once the suit is on it's about 'superman', either way cant wait..hope alot of cameos can be done ...hmm maybe the justice league vs. darksied, they cant handle him..clark realizes this..fights Darksied defeats him and finally knows he is the the one to bring hope and blah blah puts suit on, talks to Lois "i love you" flyaway superman pose in air, CREDITS lol

CW is a network like FOX where they only have 2 hours for there TV Shows so they can't do a 3 hour finale movie like a ABC, NBC, or CBS could. A 2 hour series finale TV Movie works for me.

Last episode was crap. utter crap. this season was great until that episode imo. Hopefully we won't get any of that in the finale. I hope hey can do the finale and Darkseid justice. especially after seeing that crap cgi with Chloe coming through the wall omg that was terrible!!

What can I say, we're going to agree to disagree, teabag. I've already expressed my opinions about it and I certainly appreciate yours. Like you said, the show will be over in a few months and then those who are disgusted with it will find some peace in that it won't be as prevalent on CBM as it has been.

Until I start doing my behind the scenes look at the show, episode by episode starting with the original pilot.....

....kidding! I swear, I'm kidding!

@ teabag

i agree 100%,i can't believe people think this is 5 star entertainment when most weekes it barely worth 1 star.

-shit acting
-shit writing
-shit costumes
-shit cgi effects

if smallville has raised the bar to what all other comic book shows will be measured against, its not gonna take much to beat.

10 years on the tv,its only gets 3 million veiwers a week, that must mean there is alot of broken tv's where the veiwers can't change channel. :D

Ya know, i respect peoples opinions BUT I wish people would stop bitching and just shut up and wait for the season to be over. Jesus, I see more bitching about Smallville than any other article, I love some of you guys but there are others who just cant resist the temptation to be a whiny ass.

with that said, ROSENBAUM FO LIFE

I've seen every episode of this series and I've got to say that 50% of this show was "eh", 25% was so amazing, and 25% of this show was infuriatingly disgusting! Smallville basically invented character rape. I've never watched any other show that just "forgot" stuff. Clark told Chloe in the last episode that she always trusted him, not true! No one cares to mention Jimmy. I remember! Lana killed several people over the years. I REMEMBER! All of the heroes were at Carter's funeral, yet they weren't being held captive. I remember!

And I'm not a basher who just bashes the show because I think it's crap. I'm just being honest. Anyone who passed a decent high school English class with an A should be able to tell that Smallville has too many plot holes, repetitiveness, and overkill dialogue to be considered "good writing". And anyone with eyes should know that Tom Welling is not Superman and has never actually played him. Henry Cavil will wipe the floor with Tom;s "Superman" impression and Dean Cain was better too!

And I really liked season 9, so I'm really ticked about how bad season 10 is right now.

TO NOT END A TEN YEAR SERIES WITH A TWO HOUR SPECIAL FINALE WOULD BE BLASPHEMY..

..REGARDLESS IF YOU THINK IT WAS GOOD OR BAD..ITS BEEN TEN YEARS,TEN YEARS..! YEAH ITS HAD UPS AND DOWNS AND EVEN HIT THE DEATH SLOT AND GAVE US THE SUPERHEROES INSTEAD OF THE FARM BOY AND TEEN ANGST.

NOW ITS ABOUT SUPERMAN, ITS THE END RESULT, SO LET'S END STRONG SMALLVILLE.

@ batman720

far from it,i like watchmen,v for vendetta, superman the movie, batman, batman returns, batman begins & the dark knight(a little over rated) also i want the green lantern to be great but i haven't seen anything yet thats blown me away,i'll watch it just for sinestro.

i read green lantern & the flash comics.

i like most of there animated movies.

maybe i expect too much out of my films & tv shows.

@Teabag I'm flattered...? lol I don't know if you actually watch the show or if you just like to bash it, but it's not fair to even be a fan of the show and ignore all of the craziness that happens as a result of it. After season 9, my sister recommended Smallville to a friend who loves Superman. She said it was getting so much better. Now she's ashamed of herself for saying such blasphemy!

Too all the haters out there, why do you even watch the show if you think it so bad? The show is coming to an end so get over it already. Another question what are you going to hate on next? 10 year run must mean its not nearly as bad of a show as you make it out to be.
