Smallville is one of the most polarizing topics on Comicbookmovie.com, you either love it or you hate it. There rarely ever seems to be an in between, but when the shows announced that this, it's tenth season, would be it's last, that Clark would finally get into the iconic suit and take flight and that Darkseid was the big bad of the season, many fans were excited to see this journey come to an end.

I was one of the people who was excited to have Smallville wrap things up and finally produce the Superman, most of us, have come to know and love. I hadn't watched this show in over six seasons due to the 'No Tights, No Flights rule and I was advised to stay away from catching up because I hadn't missed much. Apparently, since my hiatus from the show, it had gone downhill and the fan-base had nearly eroded and moved on. The show had become a shell of it's former self and had alienated many with the anti-climatic Clark vs. Doomsday fight. I was told not to expect anything when it comes to Darkseid, Superman or flight.

Still, I watched the final season. I was impressed with the Homecoming episode and was, once again, excited to see Smallville. Since that episode, the season has been gradually dull and tasteless. The once impending threat of Darkseid was all but forgotten, the Lex clone story was abandoned and turned into Conner--Conner Kent will not make another appearance in Smallville. What was the point?--and Welling has yet to take flight or touch the suit.

On a recent interview with Smallville producer Kelly Sounders, we received information on the highly anticipated series finale which is set to air on May 13, 2011. Ms. Sounders, to most, seemed to hint that Darkseid would not take a physical form and that we may only see Superman in the final seconds of the series. The boards went wild, why would they tease us with Darkseid and the suit if we weren't going to be gifted with these two gods going punch for punch at one another? This season had been a disappointment, this series had been a disappointment. The excitement was gone, the resentment had set in.

Upon Smallville's return from it's break, we were presented with screenshots of their upcoming episodes, most noticeably, their upcoming Prophecy episode and there it was again. Another Smallville tease, the iconic suit was in display and it seems like it will be the star of that episode. Why show the suit if we're not going to see it in the finale? Just leave it in the fortress and have Jor-El award it to Welling after he beats up the Darkseid host and then give us the last second shot of Superman, right? That's what I thought, but I was wrong. If the rumors I've been hearing are true, Tom Welling will be awarded the suit in the Prophecy episode. How do I know this? Well, for one thing, it's a rumor, so I don't knwo. But we are also provided with concrete evidence of this. In one of the picture posted by Ed Gross, we see Mr. Welling, as one person eloquently placed it, refusing to look at the suit that had given him a job and supported his family the past ten years...

I was furious, but I apologize right now if what I have been told is true. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is it. Notice the crystal in Welling's hand? It's the key to what we've been waiting for for ten year, allegedly, he has finally earned the suit. I don't know if this means Superman will be in the entire two-hour finale or not, but it suggest that maybe we won't have to wait for a last few seconds shot.

I've said on multiple occasions that if Smallville shows us a finale with Superman...

If not, I'll

Let's all hope the series goes out with a Super-bang! Let's hope that we get Superman in the entire two hour episode, let's hope the finale is so good that it impresses Grif and Marvel72. =D

Let's hope for one last, unbelievably amazing memory from Smallville.

Agreed. I really hope we get Superman the whole episode or AT LEAST have him put the suit on sometime during the first hour. In that promo for the finale you see him looking up like something terrible is happening and taking his glasses off. Let's hope he does change into his suit and not the jacket.
If he wants to reveal himself and be known as Superman I think his first appearance in the public eye should be in the suit he'll be wearing from now on. Let's just hope we get what we want, or like you said, the tears will be coming.

And I've looked at that picture hundreds of times and never noticed he was holding that crystal. Yeah, hopefully he uses it to open that thing up and retrieve his suit and the screen goes black and gets us set up for the finale.

It won't make it or break it for me :D We've seen more Superman from Welling/Smallville without the suit than we've seen from Routh/Superman Returns with the suit. Nuff said ;p

Totally Agree This Series So Far As Been Filled With Filler Episodes But Some Great Episodes Too Like Lazuras And Homecomeing Too Name Two Episodes.
This Is The Idea I Think Will Happen In The Last Three Episodes:

Dominin: Filler Episode With The Return Of Zod Being The Highlight Of The Episode But In The End When Clark And Oliver Escape The Phantom Zone He Will Get Taken Over Or Killed Setting Up Darkseid For The Next Episode.

Prophercy: This Episode See's The Return Of Toyman And Best Of All Kara But Also While Lois With The Powers Which Will Be Awesome She Will Have To Defeat Toyman But Clark Will Be Up Against Darkseid's Vessel Which Will Lead To Clark Getting The Suit Of Jor-el And Out Of The Fortress.

Finale Pt1 And Pt2: This Is Epic With The Return Of Lex Luthor, Jonathan Kent, Chloe Sulivan, Marther Kent And Lionel Luthor. The Episode Will See Clark Appear In The Suit A Few Times And Lex Will Return To Kill Lionel And Chloe With The Robot Suit On He Will Attempt To Destroy Clark In The Suit But Fails The Show Will End With Clark Flying Towards The Screen Waveing Goodbye Scene To Black With A Last Ten Minutes Being A Flash Of The Last Ten Seasons.
This Is What I Want To See Really.

DON'T MISS THE LAST THREE EPISODES DOMINION(APRIL 29TH) PROPHERCY(MAY 6TH) AND FINALE PT1 AND PT2(MAY 13TH)

@Superguy- Simple answer to your editorial- No.

@YourMomNaked- Very true my friend. Welling has showcased over the years that he'd make a way better Superman than silly Routh.

@juansuperiron19- NICE find dude! You should post an article about it!

@GDSuperguy....After all these years, you're still getting sucked in to the Smallville tease. How many times have they dangled a carrot in front of the fans only to yank it away at the eleventh hour? After one disappointment after another, why does anyone continue to think that "the next episode" will redeem the entire series. Leopards don't change their spots, and I truly doubt Smallville will break from their consistant game plan of tease, tease, tease, denial. Kind of reminds me of a couple of women I used to date.

I just hope Cavill gets bigger and buffer than chris evans. But it makes sense since Superman is a bigger dude than Captain America.

We need the Superman/Thor rivalry to kick off that is why Cavill MUST rival Hemsworth in terms of body-build.

@Knightstalker- Agreed dude, Smallville is just about tease, tease, tease and more tease. I'm done with this crap show. I will see the finale just to see if Welling actually mans up finally and puts the damn suit on.
JDUKE25
JDUKE25 - 4/24/2011, 11:17 AM
@LP4 AGREED. He HAS to at least get as big as Hemsworth. He's already as big as Routh was and there's still months before they start shooting. I have no doubt Snyder and his 300 team will whip him into Superman shape.

JDUKE25 - 4/24/2011, 11:22 AM
Yeah, Smallville has been tease after tease after tease. It was fine at first, but I mean, you don't tease a hungry man with a steak over and over. No, it's just wrong. Give us what we want!!!

Let's hope so! I mean the title is kind of a good hint, the prophecy being fulfilled of him becoming Earths Greatest Hero?

They have already showed us everything except him flying and putting on the costume, and I'm sure both of those will happen during the finale so relax.

It's set up perfectly- the Darkness is spreading all over the world and people are losing hope, so Superman finally comes out to the world and saves the day.

The Smallville people aren't dumb no matter what anyone says. Rosenbaum did everything possible to stay away and they still managed to get him back cause they knew how necessary it was to the story (and the fans).

The only thing more necessary was Superman. So it's not a matter of if we'll see him, it's a matter of how many scenes.

I'm excited, I can't say that enough, although we've had some serious deviations from the mythos, and seen some interesting fights (Doomsday = LAME). I think WB/CW will finally give us what we've been waiting for. I pray for it. No more of this anti-climatic crap! It would be great if we heard the begining notes to John Williams score and he ripped open his shirt and took off his glasses and then flew off, that'd be perfect....

@Drellik-I took photography for a while, so as soon as i saw it i burst out laughing! i can understand why they'd want to show it that way, but thats a pretty big mistake

Maybe they will make a TV movie where Doomsday crawls out of the center of the earth where Clark put him at the end of Season 8. It would be similar to the comics and he and Superman can beat the crap out of each other. Well, it will probably never happen but I can imagine it in my head and use it to justify the crappy ending to Season 8. What is a fanboy to do?
