It's going to be quite a while before we get any official promotional material for Superman: Legacy, but we have seen some impressive fan-art doing the rounds over the past few weeks, and this latest fan-made poster takes inspiration from a classic comic book cover.

The poster pays homage to the cover of the first issue of Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's All-Star Superman, and may give us a pretty good idea of how David Corenswet will look as the Man of Steel in James Gunn's upcoming DCU reboot.

Some set photos from an unnamed project featuring Corenswet have also been shared. We're not sure how recent they are, but the actor does appear to have bulked up in preparation for his role as the Man of Tomorrow.

Superman: Legacy will also star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.

Casting is currently underway for Lex Luthor, Jimmy Olsen and Perry White.

Barring any delays, Production is scheduled to commence next January.

If you're interested in my take on the Superman: Legacy cast and the direction Gunn seems to be taking with the character, have a listen to the Roll Credits podcast below.

The average person's view of what "bulk/bulking" is, is beyond comical. Dude looks ~185 pounds in this photo. He's 6'4, hes going to have to put a metric sh*t ton of poundage to look bulky. But once he's knee deep in hollywood gear, he's going to look like a tank 😙👌

"You'll believe a man can fly"

In today's oversaturation of superhero films, that tag line just does NOT work anymore lol.

@Forthas - well Superman hasn’t worked since Superman 3 in the cinemas so odds are against it. But I’d say it’s in better hands than Singer and definitely Snyder. I wonder if it would be a better idea and go all out into an updated silver age version of the character. Where he had a career as Superboy, spent time with the Legion in the future, was best friends with Luthor, Krypto, a fortress with an alien zoo, alien artifacts and a giant statue of Jor-el and Lara holding up Krypton. All the crazy big sci-fi ideas but updated. At least this would be a different take than the one we’ve had in live action since, well, ever.

Not bad art, I would like Alex Ross to draw/paint the movie posters for DC Studios.

I know the cover this homages but it alway looked like Supes taking a crap in the clouds.
TheVandalore
TheVandalore - 8/28/2023, 8:05 PM
@John75 - I hated it for a different reason. Logically it makes no sense. You can't sit on a cloud, so is Superman hovering on the edge of a cloud pretending to sit on nothing? He's just floating on nothing with his legs tucked in like that? Lol who is he doing that for?

It's just [frick]ing stupid lol
TheVandalore
TheVandalore - 8/28/2023, 8:09 PM
It's just... if you are establishing a make believe world, you have to have rules. Are they saying in the DC universe, clouds have a physical density one could sit on? Are planes crashing into clouds all the time in DC? Im on board with a man can fly, but what are the rules? What am I looking at?

RDJ was 43 yrs old in Ironman 1. So no, Henry Cavill being 39 yrs old is not too old to play Superman.
So far I have very little to no faith in James Gunns Superman. 🤷‍♂️
John75
John75 - 8/28/2023, 7:10 PM
@AnthonyVonGeek - he may not be too old but he definitely wasn’t any good and a bit on the short side with a receding hairline. That costume looked so damned overdone with the fake muscles and little insignificant details. Audiences didn’t like him or the stand alone movie, simple. Mopey Superman just doesn’t work.

harryba11zack - 8/28/2023, 7:18 PM
@John75 - "Audiences didn’t like him" son have you not been paying attention to the fan backlash of WB firing him? most people still want Cavill.
John75
John75 - 8/28/2023, 7:27 PM
@harryba11zack - fans on what? Twitter? Where are these bums on seats for the movies? That’s what matter. People were indifferent to him and MOS. Don’t misunderstand these echo chambers on comic forums or you tube channels for the real world. Funniest thing I ever saw was after Man of Steel came out people still didn’t recognise him on the street same like Routh.

@AnthonyVonGeek - after watching gotg3 I have a lot of faith in what he's bringing. I believe he knows what he's doing and will probably bring the best version we've seen
harryba11zack
harryba11zack - 8/29/2023, 4:49 AM
@John75 - this isn't the 80's anymore son. The superstar for the most part is dead, actors alone are not enough to put people in seats for movies? it's down to marketing. you seem to have a hate bohner for Cavil. and Routh wasn't bad. he worked with what he had.
John75
John75 - 8/29/2023, 2:54 PM
@harryba11zack - but the actor still has to connect with the audience and he didn’t. So far Gunn has said everything right but at the moment they’re just words and I hope he follows through. The past 2 relaunches the studio seem reluctant to embrace the character fully and it sad in this age of the superhero blockbuster to see Superman fail. Superman was the one that got me into comics in the beginning and it may be sad but I know way too much, more than a grown man should, about the character and it’s been really disappointing with every entry for decades now. I just think with technology today they can really embrace the grandeur of the character now, and yes, even some of the silly stuff. He can be such a fun character with equal parts of humour, drama and sci-fi. While I’m not American I also really think it should be an American that plays him. If the English insist that Bond or Harry Potter need to be played by British actors then Superman should damn well be played by an American because the character is such a quintessential American creation.
