Odin still has his eye?

Odin still has his eye?

Is it a technical goof?

I'll make this quick. I was watching the Thor trailer and while trying to get a good look at Odin in action, I noticed something that bothered me.

He can be seen with his eye in the picture. In earlier footage like from the first tailer and the one at comic-con, Odin can be seen wearing an eyepatch. Please tell me that they are going to explain this in the movie and that it is NOT just a technical goof.

Well spotted! I have a feeling this scene might be some sort of flashback to when Odin adopts Loki. Hopkins looks a little younger in that shot.

I never read the leaked script, but I hope this wasn't in the script, making the script not real, so Thor fans can shut up about it.

perhaps this is a flashback before the patch.....

I'd say this'll be explained at some point in the movie... but good find Indoraptor12!

Infidels, Allfather Odin didn't lose his eye in a battle. He sacrificed his eye at Mímir's spring, to gain the Wisdom of Ages.

This movie is so going to suck. So much disrespect to the gods...

@The14thAvenger: No I don't have a copy
@crazyray: Packers WON the Superbowl. Eat it... I don't doubt it was a flashback. Duh. It's just I was hoping that the flashback, or whatever it is, wasn't in the script. Also I heard the creature at the end of the Tv spot wasn't in the leaked script.

You circled the wrong eye, pics from the movie show the patch on his right eye. That seems like a huge thing...can't see branagh missing that. I wouldnt worry about it being a mistake.

His helmet is also different in this shot. It has those side wing horn things detached from the front. Look at this helmet compared to the throne room helm.

he has grey beard so it must be a flashback.

As we all know with movies, sometimes they can't go over every aspect of a character's 50-70 year comic history in a two hour movie, so I'm thinking maybe they couldn't go into the whole "eye sacrificing" part without making it a 5 second "wtf?" part of the movie. So yeah, it's probably an important flashback before he lost it, or what caused him to lose it in the movieverse. This is my "having not read the script and not going to" opinion.
SmokinIndo
SmokinIndo - 2/18/2011, 7:12 AM
That's exactly the thing... I don't remember a flashback being in the script. I do remember however Odin jumping into the fray during Thor's battle with the Frost Giants. And before people go ranting about how "DERP! The script isn't real", pretty much everything else in the trailer is confirmed in the script.
Exiles
Exiles - 2/18/2011, 7:15 AM
@golden123 the part where thor gets tasered by kat dennings character is in the script even, she also says the exact same lines from the script, and it can easily be early draft. Seriously you just sound like a guys who's bitter and jealous for some reason.

are you kidding especially you Crucifier, you're telling me that in discrepancy such as an eye patch merits an article but yet in the Xmen film entire origins character developments and so on are completely tossed out the freaking window but that doesn't merit a closer look? please it's an eye patch this isn't even news and doesn't even warrant the attention that the editors of this site gave it. this is not a find at all this isn't even note worthy of all the comic based films right now the ones that have received the most nurturing and attention from actual comic creators are the likes of Thor Cap and Green Lantern. I for one am always someone who stood behind the source material for these films and the only debauchery and character rape that i see for sure is in the confines of one absolutely terrible xmen trailer that debuted last week.

Odin sacrificed his eye to gain the Wisdom of the Ages to stop the Ragnarok, it is essential to Asgardian history. This could very well be a scene from a back story montage or something.

It may be a tech goof but it also may be after Odins Resurrection. The Resurrection being the most likely. He will have to give his Eye up again. It has happened in Comics before as well. Or Maybe for a sequel they will leave him with both eyes and make Thor give up both his Eyes and become Rune King Thor!!!! That Would be Amazing!

This is Marvel here they are very exact in everything with their characters so we shall see , if it is a flashback maybe it is before he sacraficed his eye.

as well you don't know which draft of the script you read thor just recently fully wrapped after the new year they were doing reshoots well into December. so instead of awknowledging this retarded article anymore i'm going to continue to point out the things wrong with the new Xmen Film.

1. Angel Salvador; she isn't even in the second or third class this character didn't premiere until Grant Morrison's run on New Xmen in the early 2000's

2. Alex Summers is Cyclops little brother not his father uncle or Cousin twice removed or whatever the hell they are making him in this film.

3. Banshee is IRISH! you got a european actor to portray him let him freaking be IRISH!

4.Beast's mutation occurred well after his stint on the Xmen and closer to when he was an Avenger.

5. Regardless of what any half assed nerds have said the original class of xmen even after various retcons still remains Scott Summers Jean Grey Hank McCoy Warren Worthington and Bobby f@cking Drake Period even Darwin wasn't on the scene until just before the events of Giant Size Xmen #1.

Word! the next thing you know people are going to start bit%hing about the fact that Jane Foster was a nurse in the comics and not a scientist, you people need to give it a rest there are actual legitimate reasons for fans to be upset with previous interpretations of comic characters on film not the least of which being Dolf Lungrens Punisher. stop nit picking

@loganX35 - shut the [frick] up, its the internet, its what we do. And you are contradicting yourself to [frick] by telling peole not to [female dog] when you are [female dog]ing about people [female dog]ing. Not everyone is always going to hve the sme opinion. Deal with it.

Also could people stop saying, oh this happens in he script and this and this because some of us do not wanna know, its ok to say parts of the trailer are in the script, but please dont say stuff that isnt in the trailer for me :).

And that scene is probably showing when he lost his eye.

cham2119 - 2/18/2011, 7:53 AM
6. Charles Xavier and Magneto were enemies by the time the first class of xmen were assembled, and they were already pretty freaking old, and Chuck was bald as hell.

7. Mystique; villian to the avengers before the Xmen

8. Azazel; nuff said.

and it's not about bit#hing at the bit#hing it's the fact that if you're going to there are far worse renditions out there that deserve it more.
