It Sounds Like SPOILER Could Return To The Marvel Cinematic Universe After THOR: RAGNAROK

SPOILER was one of many familiar faces who showed up in Thor: Ragnarok and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige sheds some light on how that came to be and whether he could return down the line.

Thor: Ragnarok is a fun movie packed full of surprising cameos. Most of those come during a stage performance Odin (well, Loki) is watching as we get to see Sam Neil as Odin, Luke Hemsworth as Thor, and Matt Damon as Loki. While seeing the latter play the God of Mischief was a surprise, many fans have argued that it was a waste of the actor but Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige says he could return.

"I think, as he said to me on the carpet last night, that look, there he is now a stock as Asgardian player somewhere wandering the universe with, spoiler, Asgard gone," Feige said confirming that he's talked with the Jason Bourne star about a possible return. "Who knows? It could be the adventures of a hard-working actor, Asgardian actor, in the future." So, how did this A-List cameo come to pass? Well, it's all thanks to the God of Thunder himself, Chris Hemsworth!

"There was a fun idea of “Let’s get Luke Hemsworth to play Thor,” Taika had worked with Sam Neill in Hunt for the Wilderpeople. He was willing to come in and do Odin. So who could be Loki? Who could be Loki? Who could be Loki? We didn’t have any brilliant ideas. At one point, off handedly, Mr. Hemsworth goes, “Well what if I ask my friend Matt?” I said, “Matt who?” He said, “My friend, Matt Damon.” “Okay. Sure. Sure Chris, ask your friend Matt Damon. He’s not doing this. Oh he’s gonna do it. He’s flying down.” The next thing I know, Matt Damon is on set in a full Loki costume, full Loki wig. We have pictures that maybe we’ll share some day of Tom Hiddleston in a full Loki outfit standing next to Matt Damon in full Loki outfit. It is very surreal and very amazing. What a testament to, I just met him for the first time, I wasn’t there when he shot this. I just met him for the first time last night. What an awesome thing, for him to come down here for his friend. It was purely based on his friendship with Hemsworth that he came and did this."

Seeing that photo of Damon and Hiddleston together would be very interesting and you have to hope Marvel Studios took some footage that day for the Blu-ray as an A-List actor making a cameo as notable as this is definitely rare. What did you guys think of his surprise appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Would you want him to return? Share your thoughts in the comments section.

I had his appearance spoiled for me, but it was weird in my theater, most people didn’t even recognize who it was.

The entire scene though was hilarious though

@Armageddon26 - he wasn’t super-recognizable to me either, even knowing who it was. He has gotten much stockier over the years, likely from bulking up to play Bourne and such.

@Armageddon26 - I didn't recognize him either. I think it was the hair. Or maybe I was laughing too much to notice.

@Armageddon26 -

not only that scene BUT the whole thing was hilarious !
I love how Marvel doesn't take itself too seriously,
unlike the distinguished competition.

I've always wanted Tom Cruise or Matt Damon as Charles Xavier in a rebooted X-Men series. With Disney maybe buying Fox it could happen. Always liked Damon he seems like a nice guy who wants to have fun with the roles he plays, I would like to see him be a part of the MCU in a bigger role.
