Jaimie Alexander Finally Reveals Why There's No Sign Of Lady Sif In THOR: RAGNAROK

We've known for a while now that Sif won't appear in Thor: Ragnarok but no one has provided a satisfying answer as to why! Here, Jaimie Alexander finally reveals why she was missing from the threequel.

While The Warriors Three return for Thor: Ragnarok, there's no sign of Lady Sif, a shame considering the fact that Thor: The Dark World finally started hinting at a romance between her and the God of Thunder. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently played coy on the character's absence from the threequel and said that she'll show up elsewhere but here's the reason Jaimie Alexander was M.I.A.

Talking in a recent interview to promote her NBC TV series Blindspot, the actress confirmed that her absence from the critically acclaimed Marvel Studios movie essentially boiled down to scheduling.

"I was asked, but the timing of when they were going to shoot and when Blindspot was gonna shoot — it was pretty much the same time. So there was a conflict there. I was hoping for more of a notice from [the studio] so I could make it work, but it was a short notice thing. They called and said, ‘Hey, by the way, would you come do this?’ I said there is no way I can make that work that fast. It couldn’t happen. They were on a different continent! So it was sad. I was bummed about it."

It's a shame that Sif isn't in Thor: Ragnarok but with Valkyrie on the scene, she's not really missed! Hopefully, Marvel is able to find something else for the character to do down the line and the most likely places are no doubt Avengers: Infinity War or Avengers 4. It seems we'll just have to wait and see but let us know your thoughts on Sif's possible future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe down below.

At least it means she wasn’t killed off in a naff attempt at making Hela seem like the shit. I mean, she killed Asgard’s army, that’s enough for me to make me think she’s a massive threat. They didn’t have to kill of the Warriors Three so pitifully to further hammer home that point

SPOILERS

@MikeyL -
Agreed, matter of fact the first thing she did was destroy Mjolnir, and that was more than enough to send a clear message, about just how powerful she was.

What they did with the Warriors Three was pointless.

Just like thier role in the MCU! :P
It did nothing for me.

@MikeyL - Now people are complaining of Marvel killing people?
Roodi
Roodi - 10/28/2017, 6:29 AM
@Roodi - I mean, let's not act like the warriors 3 were prominent figures in the Thor films. Marvel's fault.
MikeyL
MikeyL - 10/28/2017, 7:06 AM
@Roodi - just more in the way that it was so quickly done. Yeah, they’re not the most prominent but they’re characters that should have had a big emotional impact on Thor as they were his friends and despite not having the biggest roles, they were integral to the films in helping him when he needed it

@Roodi - Look, they need to be willing to pull that trigger every now and then. But there needs to be an overall point to killing them besides just killing them. If it was them being like "you see we killed someone get off our backs" then it's not the right reason.

@JourneyIntoMystery - I realised afterwards I forgot to put spoilers on, but this entire thread is discussing it. It’s not just me. You’re coming into a news article talking about who is and isn’t in a film that’s just been released and why, there’s going to be spoilers. I’m sorry it was my comment that spoiled it for you, but if it not mine, it would have only been one scroll away

@MikeyL -

HEAVY SPOILERS;
This film managed to disappoint me in that regard, they were not even remotely developed before they were killed off - so the deaths were pointless and meant nothing.

They should have really spent a short while on Asgard, maybe have Thor witnessing the life of Loki as he is disguised as Odin - could lead to a few jokes, but also let us see the world of Asgard more so we actually would care when it's destroyed.

None of the emotional weight of the main moments of the movie actually resonated with me because they never allowed them to - so much of the movie felt unfinished or missing;

- Hela actually has a legitimate claim to the throne and reveals the truth that Odin was a warrior? Let's pretend that none of the Asgardian bow down before her like Skurge does ¬.¬

- Sculptures of other champions and a planet filled with alien warriors presenting tons of potential for cameo or battle scenes? Let's only show Thor battling Hulk ¬.¬

- Thor has demonstrated that he has a supreme level of powers? Let's put him with his self-stated 'friend from work' instead of chaining him up or putting him in the infinite circle room ¬.¬

- Bruce might never be able to turn back to his human form if he becomes Hulk again? Let's give that no closure ¬.¬

- Thor loses an eye? Let's skim over it quickly, not show him in pain and not really give any time to focus on it. Let's also not show him being challenged in any way due to this ¬.¬

- Asgard is destroyed and the Asgardians are homeless? Let's have a joke about a non-speaking random insect person dying ¬.¬

@MikeyL - If I see SPOILERS I will not read the comment. Especially as this is an article about a scheduling issue and not the fate of the warriors three. Fair point though, I should be more careful.

@ODanil - I think Marvel is very serious about the rumored female crossover film. That would put

Valkyrie
Sif
Black Widow
Gamora
Nebula
Scarlet Witch
Captain Marvel
Wasp

Vs.

Hela or Ghost or both.

@SonOfAGif -

The only few that could work would be Gamora and Nebula due to the family dynamic and rivalry, but that will likely be fixed by the time we get to GOTG 3 or Avengers 3/4.

@Doomsday8888 - Im just back from seeing it and I'm slightly disappointed. I was glad the humour wasn't as continuous or over the top (like GOTG2) than I thought it would be. But I'm really disappointed with Helas screen time (who I adored)
The film was too short to have Sakaar and Hela on Asguard squeezed into it. It felt strange and often jarring (given how different the as ethics for Sakaar and Asguard are) to have it constantly throw back to Hela.
I also don't feel like the ending fight lacked depth/emotion. Considering Hela and Thor had only cross paths once before.
I think the film would have been better suited to have had Hela hunting down Thor to kill him, as opposed to her essentially waiting in Asguard.
As I said I adored Blancett as Hela and hope she returns in future films (SPOILERS!!!!!! i don't think she was killed at the end, Asguard was just increasing her power, they never stated her life was tied to it. Plus, with Asguard destroyed, her powers will be diminished so she won't be over powered like she was, and thus would require say the aid of Thanos SPOILERS!!!!!!!)

Zachary Levi did something she failed to do, get cast as a DC Greek god superhero who will have their own movie despite already having a role as Thor's friend in the MCU.

@JoshWilding For God sake man can you stop spoiling the whole effing movie - literally in the past two days you've posted dozens of articles about Thor: Ragnarok spoiling who's in it and who's not, who dies and who lives you're just spoiling it for everyone, knock it off man.

@TheGoddamnPeel - Again, atleast he should not put the spoiler in the title. So yeah, I kinda agree with you
Peel
Peel - 10/28/2017, 6:58 AM
@MalseMarcel - There's just no need for it. He could've written it as 'Jaime Alexander discusses Sif's role in Thor: Ragnarok' and left at it, with it being ambiguous to what her role - or lack of role - is. Or even 'Jaime Alexander on Thor: Ragnarok *Spoilers*' would've been enough.

But the fact he's got to go out the way to say 'Why this character isn't in this movie' or 'why this scene was cut from this movie' etc. is completely unnecessary and is just being dickish for the sake of being dickish.

I've tagged him twice in the past two days and he's still posting articles with spoilers in the headlines. He knows that this is pissing people off and hasn't stopped. Completely disrespectful.
