Marvel Hires Stephany Folsom To Work On THOR: RAGNAROK Script

It seems Marvel has added another female writer to its team, as reports are coming in that Stephany Folsom (The Princess of North Sudan) has been brought in to take her pen to Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle's script for Thor: Ragnarok. More past the jump...

Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok will get a fresh pair of eyes on it, as THR reports that Stephany Folsom (1969: A Space Odyssey or How Kubrick Learned to Stop Worrying and Land on the Moon, The Princess of North Sudan) has been tasked with working on the current script from Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle.

The studio seems to be putting something of a stable of female writers together, as we also have Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) penning the Captain Marvel screenplay.

It was recently announced that What We Do In The Shadows director Taika Waititi would take the helm on Thor: Ragnarok, which will see Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder teaming with The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) to take on some as yet unannounced bad guys. Aside from that plot details are being kept under wraps, but you'd have to expect an appearance from Tom Hiddleston's Loki at some point.

The Marvel threequel is set to be released on November 3rd, 2017.

Thor is the slut of the MCU; she'll sleep with anyone and toss them out the next day.

She's going to turn Thor into Prince Charming lol...or make him into a bigger meathead. She tweeted that this is her "dream job". Well, we shall see about that.

She has a script on the Blacklist so that's not bad. Inspires confidence

Does this means Jane and Darcy will be getting even more screen time? [frick]! Hopefully, it's because Hela is in this and they need a female writer to flesh out the villain.

Some dude will probably rewrite it, like with GOTG.

Why do people get on Marvel for giving CHANCES TO BURGEONING TALENT??!

If they didn't, we would never have found these guys:

Or her (co writer of GOTG):

I like that they give opportunities to filmmakers and writers who've shown promise on a smaller scale. No matter what field of work you're in, few individuals start at the top. EVERYONE NEEDS SOME KIND OF OPPORTUNITY IN LIFE. A shot at something to prove themselves

I'm not familiar with her work so I'll reserve judgement till I actually see the movie. Marvel has a pretty solid track record when it comes to their writers though

@ComicsBornAndBred

I agree.....

But the Spider-Man writers are still shit writers and they need to be fired.

Both Thor movies were bland as [frick]. Fortunately Hulk and Surtur should spice things up.

After the shit that went down with Josh Trank and people's disdain for Webb's Spider-Man movies I've become more cautious of burgeoning talent doing CBMs, hence my apprehension with the new Spider-Man director.

Doesn't matter though, good director or not, if the Marvel heads are the real ones controlling the camera for better (most of the MCU) or worse (Thor 2, Iron Man 2).

I wonder how she got the gig, I never heard of her and her IMBD page is pretty much blank

I love Kubrick though

Her screenplay that is blacklisted seemed to have a lot of buzz around it, I have confidence that this is a good direction, she gets to start fresh with Taika(who's a genius in my opinion) already on board so there's a back and forth between ideas. From what I've heard she is a good writer and from what I've seen Taika is very imaginative and creative, I think this will be a good combination, and hopefully result in one of Marvel's best films.

I don't mean to be offensive... just genuinely curious if he believes a female writer would only be hired to work on female characters.
