Early reactions for Thor: Ragnarok were overwhelmingly positive and we now have our first full review of the threequel courtesy of James Gunn. Surprisingly, the character the filmmaker singles out is Miek, someone we've caught only a glimpse of on one of the movie's posters. Based on these remarks, it sounds like the CGI creation steals the show and only Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster is second to him.

Gunn has plenty of good things to say about the rest of the cast too and even director Taika Waititi gets plenty of praise for his unique - and hilarious - sounding take on Thor's fellow arena combatant Korg.

It will be interesting to see if regular reviewers praise the same things and just how glowing their verdicts will be. Thor: Ragranok marks a major shift in tone for the franchise and Marvel has to be hoping fans and regular moviegoers alike will embrace that as the God of Thunder takes on a more comedic attitude. Are you guys excited for the movie? Weigh in with your thoughts down below.

I have no problem believing that this will be a year when all three MCU movies were great.

I am always skeptical of in-house commentary from colleagues...I am also of the belief that the best CBM's are of the more serious nature. This sounds like a Guardians of the Galaxy type film which is great and perhaps that is the best we can get from a Thor film.

I think Chris Hemsworth is finally able to go full-Thor and full-Hemsworth, charming and hilarious.

Really curious how and if they are able to pull off a character tweak after 4 movies of being "pretty good". Nobody really talks about it because we're used to Hemsworth and the stakes were so much lower in 2011, but his Thor had a lot of the same problems as Jones' Iron Fist and Cavill's Superman out of the gate. Neither of those other characters have yet shaken the dust off, and the way they've approached Thor in Avengers has been to just ignore the problem.

It's not a complete reinvention, but it looks like Ragnarok's answer may have been to just have Thor chill the [frick] out (which was also my suggestion for Iron Fist). But will it be satisfying? I'unno.

I'm hoping this movie knocks it out of the park, but would you expect him to dump all over the movie??? I don't think so. But good little review there and it's in line with what we've all seen and heard this far.

Anyone that says Thor Ragnarok isn't going to hit 1 billion is nuts.

@Spock0Clock -
400 Domestic and 600 Plus foreign is my guess. Has two weeks before Justice League and it opens in China the same day. The Hype growing every day for this movie.

Early Reviews best Marvel movie ever a must see movie. Blows away Guardian of the Galaxy movies in humor.

I saw when Gunn posted this on Facebook. Some one asked him to name the worst MCU movie and he replied "I'm not a dick". It was hilarious coming up on that question and answer.
