In another interview during his break from directing Thor: Ragnarok, Taika Waititi talked more about helming the God of Thunder’s third solo outing, and what we should expect. We all know it’s never groundbreaking news when a filmmaker talks up his work, but Waititi had some very intriguing things to say about the 2017 flick now that filming is underway.

“I feel like a guest in Marvel's universe but with the creative freedom to do what I want,” Waititi told Polygon yesterday. The New Zealand filmmaker was then asked whether or not Thor: Ragnarok will really be a “buddy-style comedy,” which was previously suggested… mostly by star Mark Ruffalo. “It's hard to say what the movie is because it's changing,” he revealed. “The plot has changed and the script has changed. There are buddy elements to it between Thor and the Hulk, but who knows what the final movie will look like.”

Script and plot changes during principal photography is nothing new for Marvel Studios' productions, and Taika Waititi remains confident that his directing style and techniques will bring something unique to the ever-growing cinematic universe. That includes his character study and understanding of character interactions, for which he has received much praise.

“If my actors aren't having a good time on set, then I'm doing something wrong,” he said. “There needs to be a chemistry between characters on screen, and that comes from having chemistry on set. We are making movies. We should be having a lot of fun.” Also, thanks to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige’s trust and hands-off approach, Waititi thinks Ragnarok will be “the most different Marvel movie to date and one of the biggest.”

Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi, and it stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Sir Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Karl Urban (Skurge), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), with Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster) and Cate Blanchett (Hela). And Thor: Ragnarok is set to open in theaters on November 3, 2017.
