Zachary Levi On Returning As 'Fandral' In THOR: RAGNAROK And Playing Another Marvel Character

When Josh Dallas couldn't reprise his Thor role as Fandral in The Dark World due to scheduling conflicts, actor Zachary Levi, who was originally up for the dashing role, had been cast rightfully as Dallas' replacement. However, with the third installment to the franchise, Thor: Ragnarok, on the horizon, Levi was recently asked would he be returning to the charter Warriors Three member.

"I have no idea," said Zachary Levi when Den of Geek asked recently if he will portray Fandral in the much-anticipated Marvel Threequel. "They have not told me anything. I hope so. I think that’d be pretty fun to get the gang back together, the Warriors Three. But there’s a reason why the movie’s called Thor and not The Warriors Three. They’ve got to do what’s right for Thor."

He continued, "I think they’re shooting for next summer so it really just depends on when in the summer. I know when they’re going to shoot, only because, like everyone knows, when the film’s actual releasing because Marvel’s already slotted all that out which I think is again the following November which is what the last Thor was. So they’ve got to shoot it next Summer. I don’t know. It’d be a lot of fun but there’s also a lot of other Marvel roles that I’d love to play one day. If I never get to play Fandral again, I got to do it once and it was a great group to work with."

In light of the possibility that Zachary Levi might not get to play Fandral again, he was then asked if that'd stop him from playing another Marvel character. "Oh no," he assured. "I had a very interesting talk with Kevin Feige early on about it all and he said, “Look, it doesn’t preclude you from playing another Marvel character.” Chris Evans was The Human Torch and Captain America. Ray Stevenson was The Punisher and Volstagg. I did point out to him, 'In fairness, neither Fantastic Four nor The Punisher was actually a Marvel movie. You were a part of it but they were produced by other studios.' But he said, 'Look, I totally understand that but don’t worry about it.' I don’t know, if there’s a right role that comes along and they want me to play it, I’d love to."

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenson, and Anthony Hopkins, Thor: Ragnarok is currently being scripted by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle with no director yet attached, and is now set to be released in theaters on November 3, 2017. What do you think?

I have no specific feelings on this.

HOWEVER... I would like more Warriors Three and Sif in Ragnarok. And maybe introduce Valkrey? And maybe Enchantress and Executioner? Eh? EH???

Hmm, dude really knows his Marvel stuff. I know he's part of the movie making process and all, but I assumed only geeks truly understood the whole rights situation. Anyway, don't really recall what he did in TDW aside from this glorious little scene…

Still, wouldn't mind seeing him return. Thor is hopefully gonna need all the help he can get in Ragnarök.

That awkward moment when DC and Marvel both have an enchantress

No, Thor 3 should focus on Darcy and her intern.

I would like to see the Warriors 3 and Sif in some more action scenes. I get its a Thor movie but all of the Asgardians are part of Thor's story so lets see some badassery from them as well as a Odin laying the smack down scene.

Levi sucked as Fandral. I hope Josh Dallas returns for the role.

Kat Dennings' rack has been the best part of the Thor movies. Don't screw it up by cutting her out of the 3rd.

He could play a funny Triton in the Inhumans and nobody would even recognize him as Fandral.

In the Thor behind the scenes the director explains why Thor doesnt wear a helmed in the movies. in the movies they use the helmed's as crowns, Odin has it, Loki has it because he thinks he should be king, and Thor has it when he becomes king at the begin of his 1st movie + I think he will wear it at the end of the 3th because I asume he will be king, THEN we can only pray for him wearing the helmed in infinity war... idc tho
