With the end of season two seemingly confirming that the third season of The Walking Dead would follow "The Prison" story arc, we knew that it would involve the debut of Rick's biggest foe: The Governor. David Morrissey was cast not too long ago, and now thanks to TV Guide we finally have a first look at the actor as the villain.

"Seeing The Walking Dead come to life on AMC has been a real thrill for me, obviously, and moving into Season 3 I'm even more excited than ever because now I feel like we're really getting to 'the good stuff,'" Kirkman tells TVGuide.com. "Having The Governor in the mix is going to fundamentally change the show in all kinds of awesome and exiting ways. And David Morrissey totally rocks!"

"The Governor in the show is definitely going to be The Governor in the comic," Kirkman told us following the Season 2 finale. "I think that he's definitely going to be a character that people love to hate and are absolutely entertained by, but also somewhat terrified of. He's definitely going to be a very important character and a very nuanced character. We are not going to be watering him down."

Don't miss The Walking Dead season three premiere, this fall on AMC.

This doesn't really matter by the end of the series or at least mid season finale he will most likely have an eyepatch a missing arm and a [frick]ed up penis if they follow the book more closely

I like that it will take a while. It will build more character development with the Governer and get more intense. BRING ON SEASON 3!

You like it better than "Breaking Bad" or "Luther"?
Those two are also REALLY good.

Lost has always been my favorite show, but a few more seasons of this, and I'll be changing my mind!

"Some even believe we are a part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United states, characterizing my family and me as ‘internationalists’ and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure—one world, if you will. If that’s the charge, I stand guilty, and I’m proud of it." -David Rockefeller.

So I was watching "The Mist" last night and noticed that Darabont had Jeffrey DeMunn, Laurie Holden, and Melissa McBride all in that movie, with Jeff and Laurie being main characters. Pretty cool noticing stuff like that years later.

Chloefornication, I've read the series from start to current issue 3 times over. The series is every bit as good as the comic. If you don't see it, it's because you're blinded by fanchild purism.

@Scabsallover - Well, I've never actually seen any of those shows (maybe of heard of one of them before). So I can't quite say if it is better than those two. But, now that you've mentioned it, I'll probably check them out, just to see how good they are. :)

Yoss and Gusto are killing me. You two must have gotten in trouble. Or at least Yoss did an Gusto is just playing along because he's too old to know better. Either way it's free entertainment.

I could see them ending season 3 with Michonne getting her revenge and Martinez being killed by Rick...setting up Volumes 7 and 8 for Season 4 (they said the Governor's story would last 2 seasons).

I'm kinda glad they changed the look, this way he looks less threatening right off the hop and it'll knock the wind out of a lot of people that aren't familiar with the show. I hope they keep everything the same.

Glad that after the zombie apocalypse the hairdressers all survived. His hair is dreamy! Lol. @Yoss and @Gusto are Hillarious! How long will this have to last?

I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt

The fact that he's supposed to come across as safe is the scary bit...villains don't dress up all sleezy and sinister like in the comics if they're trying to create a realistic (as much as they can considering the subject matter) show.

That dude from Montreal didn't dress up like the governor and he chopped people up too...
