Never been big into Doctor Who myself, but Whittacker is a terrific actress so this is great news for fans.

I'm a big Doctor Who fan but I don't know about this. I wonder if the fans will accept such a big change.

@Nightwing1015 - they can easily use the fact that the timelords gave him/her additional regenerations as the context for this: additional regenerations are wholly predictable

@Redmest - I'm sure this could be entirely canonically justified. I just think there's a risk this could cut the shows viewership in half.

@Nightwing1015 - Same here. Look, this is just me speaking, but years of history of being a male to now be a female in this day and age, I'm not sure I can deal with this. Better hide James Bond.

@Nightwing1015 - The Doctor is a shape-shifting (regenerating) alien from the most advanced civilization in the universe, I've accepted it already. Just not yet sure about Jodie Whittaker.

Maybe they could've gone with a more popular actress to make such a massive transition easier, like Helena Bonham Carter or Tilda Swinton.

@Memorator - I have no issue with her being a woman I just know little of the actress.

Pheobe Waller would have been great in the role.

@StormXmen123 - I only saw her in Broadchurch and Attack The Block. She is good. Just not what I was expecting.

Agreed. Then again she probably was ruled out because of the tight schedule demands. She has her own show, and a couple of movies coming up, so...
