Hopefully better than his first shity season. Pinkman was an irritant from beginning to end and I actually cheered when he died, foolishly hoping it would be the last time we'd see him. Forest of the Night is a horrendous embarrassment.

@SuperDude001 - I gotta agree, Smith was fantastic at speeches. This was one of best I've ever seen:

Last season was lackluster. Moffat needs to hand off to a new showrunner. Overall,the quality of the show is diminishing in the haze of Moffat's preference for Sherlock.

@Minty That was a great speech.

"I walked in universes where the laws of physics were devised by a mad man".

Omega much?

@ScionStorm - Sadly I'm one of those fans who've only seen the new series so I couldn't say, but it's always nice to see a show pay respect to it's roots/origins

I hope this new season focuses more on where his faces come from, since he was freaking out, wondering where he had seen his new face before in the first episode of last season.

I enjoyed season 8, but I couldn't stand The Doctor and Clara butting heads all the time. And Danny Pink was ugh.

@Minty

Omega was a stellar engineer and High Council member on Gallifrey who developed the Hand of Omega, a remote stellar manipulator which could be used to control the reactions within a star. Using the Hand, Omega performed adjustments on a star near Gallifrey's in an attempt to provide a power source for the time travel experiments he conducted with Rassilon. However, Omega was thought killed in the resulting supernova, which then collapsed into a black hole.

Omega had not died, but had rather been sent through the event horizon into an antimatter universe and had been trapped there since then; although he was able to shape that universe according to his will, it meant that he could not leave that universe. His exile and solitude turned him quite insane, and he sought revenge on the Time Lords for "abandoning" him.

@ScionStorm - Nice, sounds like a pretty badass villain there. Hopefully he'll factor into the new series at some point.

I think we can all agree that Russell T Davies still had the better run when writing, and Moffat has yet to, at least IMO, write something amazing. I didn't like Matt Smiths Eleven until the middle of season 6, and even after that he never lived up to Tennant IMO. But I thoroughly enjoy what Moffat has done with Capaldis Twelve. It's smaller in scale and while I haven't enjoyed all of it, it has potential. I'm really excited to see where Season 9 goes, and who the [frick] Maisie Williams is.

@xMichaelxScottx

I prefer Moffats run. Tennant is my doctor but I have enjoyed Moffats stories since the reboot with Eccleston. Don't get me wrong, I love RTD, but overall I prefer the way the show has been approached since the switchover. Either way, Capaldi is brilliant and I also can't wait to see who Williams is!!!

@Minty @SuperheroFan96

Aside from wanting to see The Celestial Toymaker, The Black Guardian, and The Mara as villains again my top aliens I want to see return with an updated design are:

The Menoptera

The Macra

The Sea Devils(cousins to the Silurians)

The Terileptils

and the Tractators

@Minty And they still haven't touched on the ancient war between the Timelords and the gigantic cosmic Great Vampires since that Fourth Doctor episode.

@maxx Moffat run is good don't get me wrong, but I feel like when season 5 started he decided to neget some of the continuity from previous seasons. And what I mean by that is, other than some nods to seasons 1 to 4, it seems like the doctor almost forgets his time in those seasons.

He ended up doing that to add his own style to the series and to put his mark on the series which is understandable from a writing standpoint but for continuity it didn't make much sense to me. That and it seemed like he made Smiths Eleven less intelligent than season 1-4. Smith seemed like he came into situations where he knew what to do less and less when he easily should have.

The one thing I would actually praise him for was the whole River Song is Melody Pond story arc. I loved that because he actually built upon something that was before his run. And I hope he still continues to do so, because I want to see his last meeting with River when The doctor gives her his sonic. I also love Vastra, Strax and Jenny, especially Strax. They made for a pretty fun trio.
