ARROW: Here's Our Review Of Season 6 Episode 11 'We Fall'

This weeks episode of Arrow proves that Original Team Arrow is probably the best element of this season so far, while the new Arrow team serve themselves as the weak link.

While not a lot happened in this episode, it's fair to say that it was just slightly better than last weeks episode, especially as the writers stepped up with Felicity. I'm not a big fan of Felicity at all but she had some really cool moments, while also having a very memorable moment. So let's start with the good. 

Like I said, not much happened this episode which changes the course of the entire story of this season but I was intrigued by the reveal that Vigilante is actually working as a double agent against Cayden James' team. It actually makes sense and the fact is it explains why his character suddenly done a 360 between season 5 and 6. I was really worried that they wouldn't explain or give much time for Vigilante this season but I'm glad the writers proved me wrong and made more sense of the character and his intentions this season. Turns out Oliver isn't the only one trying to put down Cayden, Vigilante is too and while the episode doesn't go into depth about why Vigilante wants to put him down, we finally have a step forward for his story arc this season. It was interesting to see Vigilante working with the new Team Arrow but I honestly would've preferred him working with Arrow. Although it does make sense they'd make Vincent work with the new team due to his connection with Dinah.

Now, let's talk about the "new Arrow team." Personally, I dislike them very much, I don't know why but every time I watch Renee, Dinah and Curtis working together, it just feels unbelievable. In season 5 there was no story arc for those three to really bring them together and give them a solidified relationship. Unfortunately this episode doesn't change my perspective of these three. They're not interesting and I didn't enjoy watching them get so much screen time when we could've been getting more focus on Original Team Arrow. I've said this before, I like Renee but the other two just feel shallow and they don't really have a good foundation or story and because of that, I don't really believe that they're heroes or that they care about Star City honestly. I also really disliked that they kept Vigilante being a "good guy" a secret from Oliver as that is necessary information to inform Oliver of.

Something I didn't think I'd be saying this season is that I really enjoyed Felicity this episode, she was the rock for Oliver and honestly for William as well. I loved her, she wasn't whining or being annoying, she was there as a supporting wife to Oliver and a loving mother-like figure to William. It was really sweet and believable to see Felicity having a personal moment with William as she explained why Oliver does what he does as the Green Arrow. Even without that moment with William, she was just a really nice character to have in this episode, Emily Bett Rickards acting was quite on point here, especially in that moment with William and when she was explaining to Oliver that he needs to speak with his son. I felt like she was the MVP this episode and I have never said that about her character as I never really loved her. I hope the writers keep going strong with her character and develop her further!

My last point will be on the reveal that James believes Green Arrow killed his son. This was interesting because we also learn that Green Arrow couldn't have been the one to kill his son as at the time of his death, Green Arrow was in Hub City attempting to recruit Black Canary last year. So obviously it means Green Arrow was framed and now the question is, who framed him? Well, there's really two theories I've come up with. One of them is maybe Adrian Chase framed Oliver but we never actually saw it and maybe it'll be revealed that it was in fact Adrian who framed Oliver last year as perhaps a contingency plan in case Adrian's plan doesn't work and so then Adrian knew Oliver would have to deal with Cayden James. However, I do think that's unlikely honestly, my other theory is to do with Richard Dragon. Many people are assuming that later this season James will either die or leave and so Richard will take over. Maybe Richard framed Green Arrow to get Cayden to work with him to put down Green Arrow, knowing full well that Cayden is really smart and he could use his wit? Otherwise, it could be that Richard actually killed Cayden's son himself and he framed Green Arrow because he knows Cayden could be a real threat. Overall, this was an interesting reveal and I think moving forward this season could concrete itself and perhaps become a better season overall.

In conclusion, this episode wasn't the best of the standards that could be exceeded by Arrow which is a shame because like I said last week, they have interesting villains this season but they're not developing or doing much with them. Unfortunately this episode and overall season is also suffering from the weak link of the "new Team Arrow" as they serve no real great chemistry between one another. Seeing much of Original Team Arrow is awesome but it's undermined by all the damage done to this season already. The rest of this season needs to pick up itself quickly otherwise this season is looking to be nothing more than mediocre at best. Overall, this episode was a 7/10 which isn't a huge improvement from the last episode.

Totally agree about Felicity in this episode, she had the best scene of the episode. Well written, well acted, deep and insightful. It was a great talk to William that accomplished a lot and had some great reflection over her time with Oliver since the beginning. And I loved how they overplayed the scenes from the fight with what she was saying. She's becoming a great step-mom.

Let's face it: Wild Dog, Mr. Terrific, and second rate Black Canary are terrible characters. I'm so sick of Renee saying hoss. Dog and Terrific are two-dimensional on a good day. Dog hasn't shown anything special to work with much less train with Oliver.

Mr. Terrific is the male version of Felicity except it's not cute, funny, or interesting. Ray Palmer was the original version of this. At least, Brandon Routh has charisma.

Lastly, Dinah hasn't had much fleshing out. It would be nice if someone would explain why she rarely uses her power. She's barely garnering interest this season. They had to make Vigilante has a relation with her to give her a reason to be in the room.

I really like the core: Oliver, Diggs, and Felicity. They should just have periodic liaisons with other costumed people.

@ThunderKat - Exactly! That’s my entire problem with this “New Team Arrow”. They’re not developed characters, nor are they interesting but now they’re giving them their own individual team and that’s just not a good idea. I love seeing OTA but it’s a shame to see the writers haven’t been really taking that to the full advantage.

@aliharris - I feel they start each season decent to strong, then spin out. If you're going to make Arrow this world's Batman, do it! Ollie from season 1 and the beginning of last season was Batman. There's plenty to work with to keep him in that vein without making him too much of a Bruce/ Batman type. Most heroes without powers and with money are similar.

And Lord help me, the crossovers always appear to be good ideas. The execution sets them astray.
