ARROW Star Stephen Amell Open To An Arrowverse Return...But Hopes To Take It To Bloody New Places

Stephen Amell (Heels) has reflected on his Arrow experience, admitting that he would be open to returning to the Arrowverse if he can take that world to new places...& get a little bloodier in the process.

Before the likes of The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Batwoman arrived on The CW, there was only Arrow. The series, originally meant to be a standalone project, created its own DC Universe (dubbed the "Arrowverse") and concluded after eight seasons and multiple crossover events.

Star Stephen Amell bid farewell to Oliver Queen when the hero was killed off, but has he left the door open to playing Green Arrow again? Recently, DC Comics fans have expressed an interest in seeing Grant Gustin replace the seemingly always controversial Ezra Miller after The Flash, so why not have Amell play the DC Extended Universe's Emerald Archer when that world's reality is rewritten?

While Amell didn't comment on the possibility during a recent interview with Den of Geek, he did express a willingness to suit up again if The CW were to come calling.

"Oh, sure. I owe so much to the people of DC, The CW, and Warner Bros. Television. I love the character so much and only love it more now that it's coming up on two years since we wrapped the show," he told the site. "But having a little space now, I saw that I miss it. I do look back very, very, very fondly on it. Listen, I’m the namesake."

"So, if I can ever be of any any help, if I can be of service to the Arrowverse in any way, shape or form, or better still take it to a new place, which I think would be the more interesting route to go," Amell continued, "be that in a limited capacity or on a different platform, maybe one where we could show blood, that’d be really cool."

With a TV-14 rating, Arrow was a little tame in terms of violence, but HBO Max could open the door to one more story with this character (that's a little more bloody). There were once plans for a Supermax movie with Oliver Queen attempting to escape from a prison full of supervillains after he was framed for murder, so we'd be on board with that concept being revisited if Amell was attached.

Would you be open to seeing more Arrow?

Although I don't really care for the Arrowverse anymore as I once did (aside from the cross-overs), I do think the castings are pretty solid. Wouldn't mind seeing him return

Although I've despised CW shows since season three of The Flash, I'd be cool with using him like they did with Charlie Cox for the mcu. He was an awesome Oliver, but those shows should be wiped off the face of the earth. Arrow season 1-3 and Flash 1-3 was peak CW. Everything else was meaningless derivative.

The first 2 seasons of Arrow were so good.

It's a shame they had Ra's kill him in season 3 and stopped making the show.

@TheManWithoutFear - but season 5 was the best season of Arrow...

And some of the best episodes the show ever made came in seasons 7 and 8.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I gave up in season 4. People kept telling me that season 5 was great so I went back and started from there and didn't make it one episode.

I don't know. I loved seasons 1 and 2 very much but I think once they made it a team show I just didn't care anymore.

This would be the absolute perfect show for an HBO max platform.

A couple months ago I rewatched the Arrow series finale, and man do I miss that show. There has been a huge gap in the Arrowverse since Amell left and it hasn't been filled since.

Outside of Superman & Lois, the Arrowverse is pretty much dead and/or dying with the various shows. Arrow going off air really did have an unintended negative consequence for the verse. Thank god for Superman & Lois, but I would personally love to see Amell return as Oliver. Arrow will always hold a special place for me.

Would love to see him a few years down the line in a Daredevil-style GA series in a separate continuity on HBO Max that’s basically just an adaptation of the Mike Grell run.

His sentiments to the series are pretty relatable two years after the end. If there was something I thought that was left unresolved was the Ninth Circle making itself be felt more in the S7 finale after they killed Emiko, unless he took care of wiping them out of existence when he rebirth the Multiverse.

It appears that he's also aware of the potential sale of The CW hence why he mentioned "a new platform".

Luckily for him the Multiverse still exists in the franchise so perhaps the best way to fully re-introduce it to the other shows would be through a Green Arrow doppelgänger, it would hit home closely to everyone. Because that is the option that I see and think I felt coming from his statements since resurrecting the actual Earth-1 Oliver would cheapen things. A doppelgänger fits in the "limited capacity" aspect he said there.

So if it comes down to bringing him back in that way then I wonder if he could be the Green Arrow from Stargirl's 7 Soldiers of Victory. Geoff Johns brought in John Wesley Shipp as Jay Garrick even though the JSA photo showed someone different so, yeah, why not? He could take the chance to finally play a more chilled and wisecracking archer.
