ARROW Star Stephen Amell Says He'd Want To Return As Green Arrow If Offered Chance To Join The DCU

With DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran putting together an 8-10 year slate for the new DCU, Arrow star Stephen Amell has revealed whether he would be open to reprising the role of Green Arrow.

The DCEU is no more, and neither is the Arrowverse, for that matter. Once The Flash ends, we'll say goodbye to The CW's version of the DC Universe that began back in 2012 with Arrow

Stephen Amell walked away from the role of Oliver Queen following the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, and has talked openly about his disappointment with the way the character's story ended. Now, with James Gunn and Peter Safran plotting out a new DCU as part of DC Studios, could some of those Arrowverse actors get another shot at playing a superhero?

With Aquaman star Jason Momoa reportedly being lined up to swap the King of Atlantis for Lobo, Amell has admitted he would be open to joining the DCU...if he can play Green Arrow again.

"If I'm gonna be a part of the [DC Universe], I'd probably just want to play the Green Arrow in there," the actor says in the video below. "If I had to pick one, I'd pick my own movie, only because there are so many things that selfishly I would like to do with Arrow that we couldn't necessarily do on TV."

"I mean, are they still separate?" Amell continued. "Didn't we have two Flashes in the Arrowverse at one point? So, I don't know. We'll see. Whatever they want."

Gunn has said Green Arrow is one of his favourite comic book characters, so we're sure there are finally big screen plans in place for the Emerald Archer.

Whether those would involve the actor who spent nearly a decade playing him on television seems doubtful, though we wouldn't be against seeing Amell get to play a more comic-accurate version of OIlie. Time will tell, but that DC Studios slate reveal can't get here soon enough.

Check out the full interview with Amell in the video below.

I actually liked him in Heels. As Green Arrow, not so much.

He was good enough for a CW version, that's about it, and I'm saying this as someone who enjoyed the show up to season 3.

If the DCU needs someone to stare into the middle distance then he's the man for the job.

yep, I like him but no. we need a new and faithful interpretation of Green Arrow from the comic to live-action.

Now I hope they can cast someone younger and more playful Oliver Queen.

I'm also hoping that James Gunn will cast someone younger as the new superman....Jacob Elordi from Euphoria as Clark Kent/Superman!

He did fine with the way it was written… the problem is that they wrote him as a green Batman. Oliver Queen is more like a cross between Iron Man and Spider-Man from a character perspective.

Green Arrow wasn’t dark and brooding in the comics. However, he plays better as a foil, and so they changed his character to something that could hold its own a little better. I get it, but if the DC movie team needs to learn anything, it is that their characters are more than just Batman in different colored outfits.

I miss Arrow. A shame to see how things turned out for the Arrowverse after that show ended.

Yes, me too. I would also like to be part of this upcoming billion dollar media machine.

Here comes the flood of all the other people no one wants in the DCU making side comments in all their interviews and tweets that they'd be "interested in joining the DCU."
