BLACK LIGHTNING: Check Out The New Promo For Season 2, Episode 5: "The Book Of Blood: Chapter One"

Black Lightning will also be off next week for the elections, but when it returns, it looks like things won't be much better between Jefferson and Anissa, which will lead him to seek out William's advice.

Both The Flash and Black Lightning will be off for the mid-term elections next week and while we don't have an episode description for the latter, it seems that the episode will see Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) seek out Inspector Henderson's (Damon Gupton) advice after his falling out with Anissa (Nafessa Williams).

Meanwhile, we can probably also expect Jennifer (China Anne McClain) continue to work on controlling her abilities and it seems that a showdown with Painkiller (Joradn Calloway) is just around the corner.

"The Book of Blood: Chapter One" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, DLV) (HDTV)

(#204). Original airdate 11/13/2018.

Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) is a man wrestling with a secret. As the father of two daughters and principal of a charter high school that also serves as a safe haven for young people in a New Orleans neighborhood overrun by gang violence, he is a hero to his community. Nine years ago, Pierce was a hero of a different sort. Gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, he used those powers to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning. However, after too many nights with his life on the line, and seeing the effects of the damage and loss that his alter ego was inflicting on his family, he left his Super Hero days behind and settled into being a principal and a dad. Choosing to help his city without using his superpowers, he watched his daughters Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Anne McClain) grow into strong young women, even though his marriage to their mother, Lynn (Christine Adams), suffered. Almost a decade later, Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him…or so he thought. But with crime and corruption spreading like wildfire, and those he cares about in the crosshairs of the menacing local gang The One Hundred, Black Lightning returns — to save not only his family, but also the soul of his community.

Black Lightning features:
Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning
China Anne McClain as Jennifer Pierce
Nafessa Williams as Anissa Pierce/Thunder
Christine Adams as Lynn Pierce
Marvin "Krondon" Jones III as Tobias Whale
Damon Gupton as Inspector William Henderson
James Remar as Peter Gambi
Jordan Calloway as Khalil Payne/Painkiller

Black Lightning returns with an all-new episode November 13

Can I just say, MAN--took them long enough to use "Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof off the Sucker)" by Parliament.

The episode was pretty slow but at least we have finally ended The Book of Consequence episodes.

Jefferson might have lost the chance to testify against Tobias but he should now focus on trying to get back his position at Garfield. I view Lowry as too strict after this episode and not racist, if he was he would have expelled both students after that fight.

Sometimes I feel the show lets Anissa off the hook too easy because in the end the hospital did become a target just like Jefferson warned her. They saved it today but those goons from Tobias won't rest. As long as she drops this Robin Hood attitude then it will be better, had she continued to live by this "my rules" lifestyle then she would not be around for her sister who is starting to resort to answering to Khalil after being denied to return to school.

I hope Jennifer fights like she did in her mind vision later on, she can easily beat Khalil with time and training and mastery of her powers. The intro was the highlight of the episode for me.

Doctor Jace is plain crazy and inhuman. I just know she is reporting all of the dead kids she uses from the pods to Odell and the longer Lynn stays there the sooner she will find out that Black Lightning and Thunder are related and prove her theory about the metagene being hereditary.

Was expecting to see the dart Jefferson caught last week to have some focus but since Gambi was taking care of Fowdy then I guess this took more priority. Did he told him that she was hiding beneath their HQ though?

Well, at least the Pierce family is mostly by now in good terms except Jennifer still feeling trapped but I really, really hope that we find out soon after the break and before the mid-Season finale what is in the briefcase regarding Green Light and the connection with the Green Light Babies. It is my only frustration right now, the slow pace in getting to the main mystery. It's a little similar to Legends this week not making Constantine confide to the Legends why he is there nor even clue-ing us a little more about who is after him.

To finish: so far the pod kids metas have showcased powers of white fire breath, aerokinesis, "look of truth" and now ice powers. The first and last one passed away however.

This time around I'm gonna do the ranking thing, maybe because it's Halloween.

Supergirl: Great because the origin story of Agent Liberty, how it was spreaded out from S1 to S3 covering up specific plot points and the choice of making Ben Lockwood fall from grace because of how mankind wasn't fast enough to get up with the new type of progress that factors like Nth metal brought it and the disadvantage humans are at compared to aliens that are more equipped with these stuff. Usually it is about the immigrants taking up the jobs others don't do but this was given a different take and was more about those affected by the new modern stuff and how they can't always be able to compete and the aftershocks, like losing a job and all that comes with it.

Arrow: Great because the plot moved forward and the characters had all to deal with questionable choices to advance their goals. I think the stuff between Lyla and Diggle could become relevant later but if not, it puts them on equal ground and means that they will follow their own rules and not always Oliver's nor the team when he is out. Diaz got a kind of power up, let's see how he uses it. Felicity blurs the lines again and got Watson out knowing full well it could go wrong, but if she can get something out from Silence it might be worth it. And Oliver and Bronze Tiger interaction was good, makes up for his attack on the guards. I am not sure if he killed that one with the shiv, hopefully not. But the Demon is only 1 week and a half away so yay.

Legends: It was okay, it was saved thanks to Zari's character and that Zaheer inspired scene from Legend of Korra. Plus the way Nate is starting to establish himself at the Bureau and I can just feel another shake up taking place due to this. They said they wanted to tell more stories there with Ava so this is how it'll be done, now that Rip is dead. (sniff) I can easily see this as the perfect way in which they will try to insert that new werewolf member they teased with Nate currently busy at the Bureau and I wonder if his father will get more heroic involved, considering he was also a Steel related family hero in the comics. I don't mind the change in the timeline because the Salem witch hunt was awful nor the fairy mother villain of the week, but I do wish the episode gave more clues of who Constantine is afraid of. That would've felt that made the plot advanced further. But again, Zari and Nate's plots helped through the episode.

Flash: Quite good because we not only found out a new wave of meta-dangers are out there now with metatech which could be available to anyone (gives a little more insight to the weapons that Block was trying to steal 2 weeks ago) but also provided with more hints of Cicada's origins, the nature of his powers and his condition, going all the way back to Nora's actions in S4 finale. The scene where she rewind time was cool too and it isn't really a way of angering the Time Wraiths because she isn't opening up a portal from inside the Speed Force, she just does it in the present. Those always show up when the Speed Force itself is literally compromised in such way. Sherloque and Ralph detective time was great and I can see both sides of Nora and Iris in the future.

Black Lightning: Decent, we are moving slow but we are moving. Gambi now has the means to get in touch at least with the briefcase, they just need to keep an eye closer with Jennifer and monitor Jace's activities at the A.S.A. facility with the pod kids and Tobias used this to return to the spotlight. I am hoping things will begin to pick up after the small break.

I really liked this episode, but it left me with a doubt: isn't anyone wondering how comes that Whale didn't get old a single day in thirty years?

@MinoMininni - i was thinking the exact same thing. I get they cleared his name of the murders but no one acknowledged yhe fact that in 30 years he looks the same.

This ep is probably my least favorite of the season so far but it did conclude some plot stuff so i appreciate that.
