Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) is a man wrestling with a secret. As the father of two daughters and principal of a charter high school that also serves as a safe haven for young people in a New Orleans neighborhood overrun by gang violence, he is a hero to his community. Nine years ago, Pierce was a hero of a different sort. Gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, he used those powers to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning. However, after too many nights with his life on the line, and seeing the effects of the damage and loss that his alter ego was inflicting on his family, he left his Super Hero days behind and settled into being a principal and a dad. Choosing to help his city without using his superpowers, he watched his daughters Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Anne McClain) grow into strong young women, even though his marriage to their mother, Lynn (Christine Adams), suffered. Almost a decade later, Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him…or so he thought. But with crime and corruption spreading like wildfire, and those he cares about in the crosshairs of the menacing local gang The One Hundred, Black Lightning returns — to save not only his family, but also the soul of his community.

Black Lightning features:
Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning
China Anne McClain as Jennifer Pierce
Nafessa Williams as Anissa Pierce
Christine Adams as Lynn Pierce
James Remar as Peter Gambi
Damon Gupton as Henderson

Black Lightning returns with an all-new episode January 23

I'm really enjoying Black Lighting. It feels very real and family oriented. Tobias has that classic villain look and feel. Jefferson Pierce is every bit of a hero. I love how the daughters are feeling different about what happened in the premiere. Next week episode will be a strong one and I can't wait. #Blacklightingisback

Really enjoyed the pilot. Felt pretty unique even if it reminded me of a Luke Cage/Flash mash up

@TheDoctor1225- so far, I'd say we've had 3 pretty good to very good comic book show episodes this week. It would be hard to rank the episodes so far. But if Arrow delivers a strong, great episode, plus with SHIELD (which we know will be a great episode), this could be the strongest week for comic book shows as a whole this season so far.

I just now realized that the wife was in Batman Begins. She played Mr. Earl's secretary "Jessica".

Another good episode, Jefferson made good work on Lala's men and himself.

Tobias has a lot of influence to just walk in and get rid of him, now now one will track him down to Tobias, for now.

I hope nothing happens to Jennifer's boyfriend, even if it seems a bit going that way.

I liked the scene between Gambi and Lynn.

Anissa is seeing enjoying her powers.

Now that Henderson knows Black Lightning is back will he go after him or not?

Next week looks just as good. :)
