After i got over the fact that this show would be nothing like the comics i ended up loving it. I just hope the eventually send bruce overseas to train.

If you've followed Batman in the comics since 1939, it would almost seem today, that the comics are nothing like the comics. Gotham plays fast and loose with the Batman mythos, and that's it's point. It's an "Elseworld" type retelling, much lie "Smallville" was, but it's a lot more fun. Your absolutely right Hush2010, if you can except that FACT, you can really enjoy it! Some people just can't pull that stick out of their ass.

@Foolsgoldfinger

They don't go far enough in that director for my tastes. They still treat Gordon as "destined to be Police Commissioner" and Bruce Wayne as "destined to be Batman" and so on and so on.

The more they shake things up, the better. Like the latest time Gordon lost his badge, I was fantasizing about him deciding to be a "Spirit" style vigilante who wears a bright red bulletproof vest under his jacket (to attract gunfire to it). And all of sudden, people are calling him the Robin. And Bruce ends up becoming his bat-themed sidekick. You know, just do something truly off the wall.

It's hardly the worst show in the world, but I feel like it's still trying to play the vague prequel game, rather than go full Elseworlds.

I have no qualms with the "direction" or "approach" of the show,my qualm is with the straight cringe worthy acting and the predictable writing.But I guess if someone doesn't like what others like they have "a stick up their ass" ,or some junk.

I am an older comic book reader and Batman fan. Never kept up after the 80s really. I think the Gotham series really wants to do a great show but may need some new writers. But overall it is Free TV and a free hour of comic book fun. So I know I don't get all of the negative fan boy garbage and sissy whining and hipster bs like boohooing. Grow up and drop a pair will ya?
That said:

The actor playing Jerome is doing a great job. He is probably excited to have the job and knows about all the pressure it takes to keep sissy fan boys happy and TV executives. I hope he is given the chance to prove his acting chops and develop his version of the fictitious character. I would be disappointed if he was not the future Joker. See no reason to change trains now. Great young actor. I like his slightly elongated looks and grim smile. The laugh is as good as any other.

The relationship between Bruce and Alfred feels plausible to me. His military training and somewhat depressed outlook are well done. PTS? His growing love for Bruce is filling in his empty life without kids or family. He is certainly a force to reckon with if coming to harm Bruce.
I think Nygma will surprise us later in the series.
I am not anti Tv violence but some of it is a little much and over done and well... considering the news these days maybe a little less needed to make a quality mystery/fantasy. Just write the characters well. Let the actors do their jobs. Don't need a bloodbath every show.

That's from the comics. Since this version of Alfred is clearly based on his Earth One incarnation, it only makes since that Alfred would be the one to train Bruce, as in the Earth One comics.

This episode looks to be the end of the Jerome storyline, so I can only see it ending one of two ways:

1. Jerome dies
2. Jerome becomes the Joker
