Rose McIver (“Masters of Sex,” “Once Upon A Time”) stars as Olivia “Liv” Moore, a rosy-cheeked, disciplined, over-achieving medical resident who had her life path completely mapped out… until the night she attended a party that unexpectedly turned into a zombie feeding frenzy. As one of the newly undead, Liv has devised a way to resist her baser urges to devour fresh human brains – she’s taken a job in the Seattle coroner’s office. In this appropriately dead-end job, she can secretly snack on the brains of the many Jane and John Doe corpses that make a final stop in the morgue. Liv remains resigned to an eternity without hope or purpose, until she realizes that with every brain she consumes, she retains a portion of that person’s memories, and she begins to experience visions from the point of view of the murder victims. It’s not the same as being alive again, but at least she can find purpose in her undead existence by helping to solve the murders of those who are indeed fully dead.

This show already looks dated. Zombies reached their peak 10 years ago.

All I said was peak. Whether you interpret that as referring to popularity or quality is your prerogative.

@TheYeezus

Then what was it 5 years ago that was the pinnacle of zombie fiction?

Was this comic supposed to be like one of those early teen novel series like Twilight or other kind of muted down "monster" "dark" stories? Never read a page so I hate to judge but all the plot synopsis stuff I've seen has been awful and seems like it's super low quality material but it's made for an audience that won't judge or even get that it's subpar. I'm just not a fan of the way shows like this take something that should be pretty scary and serious (zombies-eating people ie WALKING DEAD) and kind of try to glam it up for a pin point audience.

@TheYeezus The Walking Dead's ratings would disagree. Every season it has premiered to more viewers. It's ended with more viewers every season. Each season, the average number of viewers has improved and the current season looks to top last season fairly handily. Just in the last 2 years several of the bigger name zombie movies have done very well, for instance: World War Z ($540 mil BO, $190 mil budget), Warm Bodies ($116 mil BO, $35 mil budget), Evil Dead ($97.5 mil BO, $17 mil budget). It may be an old trope, but it's making bank.

@zarog

He knows he worded that wrong, but instead of admitting a mistake by saying "whoops, I meant my own interest in zombies peaked 5 years ago" he wanted to blame others for misinterpretation, instead. It makes him feel better about himself.

@Zarog

You have a solid point; I guess it's similair to how CBMs are still going strong. Personally, I just don't care for the zombie trope anymore. And I've always figured The Walking Dead to be the exception, not the rule. TWD subverted the genre by being a heavily human-centric show, with the backdrop of a zombie apocalypse.

Walking dead is just pushing for different demographics. It loves Conservative values like smoking, Christianity, and guns, along with zombies.

iZombie is just aimed at different low common denominators, like police procedurals, zombies, and beautiful people. just because you aren't the target audience doesn't really make it any better or worse.

Haha @theyeezus you only clarified after you were a dick to @kingonslaught for calling you out on it.

I was a dick to @kingonslaught? News to me. I'm sorry if I offended you, king.

I apologize for omitting the context that my comment was an opinion. But I guess it worked in your favor since you found someone to bark at to "feel better about yourself."

I clarified my statement after @Zarog presented me with facts. Respect to him. Yet my opinion that zombies are tired still stands because it is indeed an opinion. I won't apologize for that.

Ease up.

I agree, I'm not a big fan of police procedurals or CW's beautification, but I'll at least try it, because you never know. Good stories can still be told within demographic constraints.

Worst case scenario should be something as hokey yet adorably fun as Warm Bodies in the midst of an insipid procedural.
