LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Promotes Matt Ryan To Series Regular Ahead Of A Potential Season 4 Renewal

While The CW has yet to officially renew Legends of Tomorrow for another season, it looks like if/when they do, the Waverider will be getting another permanent occupant. Come check it out!

"My name is John Constantine. I am the one who steps from the shadows, all trench coat and arrogance. I'll drive your demons away, kick 'em in the bollocks, and spit on them when they're down, leaving only a nod and a wink and a wisecrack. I walk my path alone because, let's be honest... who would be crazy enough to walk it with me?"

It sounds like the master of the dark arts has finally found a group of heroes that are just crazy enough to walk his path alongside him as multiple sources are reporting that The CW has promoted Matt Ryan, who portrays the occult detective John Constantine, to series regular - granted that DC's Legends of Tomorrow is renewed for a fourth season.

Ryan has already reprised his fan-favorite role in one episode this season and is slated to return again in tonight's episode and then, in the April 9th season finale. His appearance in the latter will presumably serve as a set up for the possible fourth season.

He now becomes the third permanent new cast member aboard the Waverider after Tala Ashe (Zari Adrianna Tomaz) and Keiynan Lonsdale (Wally West/Kid Flash) were added to the team this season to compensate for the departures of Victor Garber (Martin Stein/Firestorm), Franz Drameh (Jefferson "Jax" Jackson/Firestorm), and Wentworth Miller (Leo Snart/Citizen Cold).

As for the show's chances at getting renewed, it remains up in the air at the moment, but CW president Mark Pedowitz did previously tell Entertainment Weekly that he was "optimistic" that all of their DC TV slate would return. Also, with the network expanding to a sixth night of programming (Sunday) this fall, the show is widely expected to receive a fourth season renewal as they look to fill the schedule with more original content. Legends is currently averaging 1.62 million total viewers and a 0.50 demo rating, which has been good enough for fifth and sixth, respectively, among all twelve of The CW's original dramas.

So, what do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!

"Necromancing the Stone" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

THE POWER WITHIN - When Mallus' power over Sara (Caity Lotz) resurfaces, she unwittingly becomes the bearer of one of the Totems. Rory (Dominic Purcell) must conquer his dark side in order to wield his own Totem power to help save the crew. Meanwhile, Agent Sharpe (guest star Jes Macallan) notices that something is wrong and recruits someone unorthodox to help. Brandon Routh, Nick Zano, Maise Richardson-Sellers, Keiynan Lonsdale and Nick Zano also star. April Mullen directed the episode written by Grainne Godfree & Morgan Faust (#315). Original airdate 3/19/2018.

After defeating the Legion of Doom, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow face a new existential threat created by their actions at the end of last season. By revisiting a moment in time they’d already participated in, they’ve essentially fractured the timeline and created anachronisms all across time! Our team must find a way to return all the anachronisms to their original timelines before the time stream falls apart. But before our Legends can jump back into action, Rip Hunter and his newly established Time Bureau call their methods into question and disband the team. Challenging the Time Bureau’s authority, they recruit a hacker from the future, Zari Tomaz and continue their time travelling shenanigans, while insisting that however messy their methods may be, some problems are beyond the Bureau’s capabilities. Some problems can only be fixed by Legends.

Legends Of Tomorrow features:
Brandon Routh as Dr. Ray Palmer/The Atom
Victor Garber as Professor Martin Stein/Firestorm
Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/White Canary
Franz Drameh as Jefferson "Jax" Jackson/Firestorm
Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heat Wave
Maisie Richardson-Sellers as Amaya Jiwe/Vixen
Nick Zano as Dr. Nate Heywood/Commander Steel
Amy Pemberton as Gideon
Tala Ashe as Zari Adrianna Tomaz
Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West/Kid-Flash
Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter
Tracy Ifeachor as Kuasa
Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk
Courtney Ford as Eleanor Darhk
Wentworth Miller as Leo Snart/Citizen Cold
Matt Ryan as John Constantine

Legends Of Tomorrow returns with an all-new episode March 19

Our dreams are finally being answered, freaking hell yeah!!! This is fantastic news, super excited now. He's one of my favorite characters in the Arrowverse, Matt Ryan just kills it as the character.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I'd like to see them spin him off onto a JL Dark series with Zatanna, Dr. Fate, Swamp Thing and Dead Man.

@HeavyMetal4Life - My face is pretty much the Thor "Yes" face right now!

We love him too much and I think the Legends writers at least listen to us. Constantine is such an awesome character and a great element to the team. If we can't have him in his own show (yet-again) then I'll take this. Legends is probably one of the most fun shows out now.

@PrincessLeather - couldn't agree more! Its obvious that he is a fan favorite and is extremely well received, so perhaps if the response to him as a regular in season 4 is extremely positive, they will give him a second chance with a solo show.

With Constantine being promoted to series regular, hopefully we can see some other Constantine characters show up. Even if it was for an episode or two, I'd be so happy.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I could use more Zed in my life and Papa Midnite would make for an interesting villain for the Legends to face off against.Especialially if he were paired witrh Darhk.

All those Constantine fans who could never stop crying about the show being canceled better show up and watch this every time is premieres to ensure it stays on, they threw that fandom a life line, time to take it.

I liked the 13 episodes Constantine was afforded before being unceremoniously canceled. And most of that was due to the actor.

I also just like Constantine and don't even mind the Keanu Reeves movie.

Very good news to start the week. And happy for Matt Ryan.

Assuming and the likelyness of Legends being renewed, Constantine's stay could mean that they will deal with more supernatural threats in S4. Could they low-key introduce the JLD? (Justice League Dark) Kinda like how S2 was of the JSA. (But lbr they were kinda wasted :( )

Or maybe Mallus will be a much bigger focus in S4. He has been teased as being made out from CGI and there's no sight of him yet and it looks like his debut will be in the finale.

Well all I can say is that they are pulling all stops for sure as the finale reaches.
