Despite its massive potential, NBC's Powerless, isn't exactly off to a hot start, which doesn't necessarily bode well for its future on network television, but there is still ample time for the tides to turn.
This week, Emily tries her best to secure a massive deal with the lost city of Atlantis, meaning we may or may not see our first Atlantean make an appearance on-screen. Meanwhile, her team becomes convinced that one of their new co-workers is secretly a superhero and Van deals with an unexpected visit from his father, played by Corbin Bernsen (Psych). VAN'S INCOMPETENCE PUTS EMILY IN A TOUGH SPOT - CORBIN BERNSEN GUEST STARS - When the team loses a client due to Van's (Alan Tudyk) incompetence, Emily (Vanessa Hudgens) seeks to clinch a deal with the people of Atlantis. Because of his massive screw up, Van's father (guest star Corbin Bernsen) takes notice and sets him on a path to redeem himself. Meanwhile, new employee Alex (guest star Matthew Atkinson) starts at the office and Teddy (Danny Pudi) and Ron (Ron Funches) are convinced he is a superhero. Christina Kirk also stars. In a world where humanity must cope with the collateral damage of Super Heroes and Super-Villains, Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens) begins her first day as Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders feel a little safer. Full of confidence and big ideas, Emily quickly learns that her expectations far exceed those of her new boss (Alan Tudyk) and officemates, so it will be up to her to lead the team toward their full potential and the realization that you don’t need superpowers to be a hero.
