WBTV issued a press release earlier today, announcing that Adam West, television's original Batman, has signed on to guest-star on an upcoming episode of NBC's DC comedy series Powerless

He'll appear as Wayne Industries chairman Dean West, who arrives in Charm City with some pretty bad news for Emily and Van as it looks like the company will have to make some major cuts after a devastating attack in Gotham City.

Check out the full release below:

BURBANK, Calif. (March 7, 2017) — Gotham comes to Charm City when the iconic Adam West, who played the role of Batman on television in the Sixties, guest stars in an upcoming episode of Powerless as Dean West, chairman of Wayne Industries. Following an attack on Gotham City, Wayne Industries has to make some cuts and Mr. West visits Charm City to deliver the bad news to Van and Emily. Will the dynamic duo of Van and Emily be able to save the team at Wayne Security, or are our Charm City Heroes destined for the unemployment line?

Executive producers Patrick Schumacker and Justin Halpern said, "Powerless is billed as DC's first comedy, but we'll always view Mr. West as the founding father of comedy in the DC Universe, thanks to his work in the original Batman television series. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with a living legend.”

This won't be West's first return to the DC universe as he's previously returned to voice characters on Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and just last year, he reprised his role as the Dark Knight for the animated film Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders. He's also collaborated with the Powerless crew before, having provided the voiceover for the comics-inspired opening credits.

So, what do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!

In a world where humanity must cope with the collateral damage of Super Heroes and Super-Villains, Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens) begins her first day as Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders feel a little safer. Full of confidence and big ideas, Emily quickly learns that her expectations far exceed those of her new boss (Alan Tudyk) and officemates, so it will be up to her to lead the team toward their full potential and the realization that you don’t need superpowers to be a hero.

Powerless features:
Vanessa Hudgens as Emily Locke
Danny Pudi as Teddy
Alan Tudyk as Van Wayne
Christina Kirk as Jackie
Ron Funches as Ron

Powerless returns with an all-new episode March 9

Still have some time before catching up but this is the kind of news that make it worth. The way the DC TV shows (well the majority case being The CW's Multiverse and this) go their way to cast former actors in roles for the shows says a lot.

@NicolausCopernicus - Although Kate McKinnon's doing a good job of it, SNL should recruit West to play Jeff Sessions!

Update on when The Batman will start filming ...

"Last year, I said May and that was my understanding. It depends. They have big plans for this movie. Whether or not we start exactly on that date or in June, whatever it is, it doesn’t matter. Here’s the thing: The creative process needs to be respected and no one involved in this film wants to make anything less than an unbelievable film, a legendary film. The movie will start shooting whenever those pieces are in place and we know this is gonna be something that we’re proud of. What we’re not gonna do is be backed into a start date, scrambling to get something off the ground just to get it off the ground. Everyone involved wants to make this the best film possible, so that’s really what it’s about. It’s funny how the media likes to run with, “Oh there’s trouble!” “Oh, the script needs to be revised!” They’re drama queens. There’s a creative process, and everyone on the cast and crew wants to make this the best movie possible. So that’s what we’re gonna do. When we start shooting it, we’ll start shooting it. It will be soon, I can say that. Here’s the thing: No one wants to create that superhero movie that’s polarizing to fans and critics. Rest assured, we’re gonna do this thing right.”

Manganiello also spoke about his overall excitement about joining the DC Extended Universe and working with people like Geoff Johns, Zack Snyder, Jon Berg and Ben Affleck.

“As far as what other people think, I can’t comment, I’m just me. I’m very excited for this role. I’m very excited to be working with the people I’m going to be working with. I’ve known Jon Berg (producer) prior to joining the DCEU. I met everyone, Zack Snyder included, when Man of Steel came out. I’ve known them all for years and I’m very excited to work with everyone. Ben Affleck makes great films and he’s a great Batman. Geoff Johns certainly is a really fun guy to hang around with and has a great grasp on this steering wheel that is the Titanic of the DCEU. Knowing what they have planned for the future, I think fans are really gonna love. There were a lot of superhero and supervillain roles that came my way and my gut said those were not the right fit for me. This one was perfect. This was exactly what I was looking for.”
