Mentioned previously on DC's Stargirl as a friend of the titular heroine's little brother, Jakeem Thunder will officially make his debut on the latest CW superhero show in season 2. According to the Decider, Alkoya Brunson has joined the cast to portray the youngest member of the Justice Society of America. The news should come as no surprise, as comedian Jim Gaffigan was recently cast as the voice of Thunderbolt.
Brunson is no stranger to working on The CW having previously appeared on The Originals.
Jakeem Thunder debuted in the pages of DC Comics in Flash (vol. 2) #134 in 1998 and was created by Grant Morrison, Mark Millar and Paul Ryan. Jakeem is the second inheritor of the Thunderbolt "genie" (who is actually a Fifth Dimension being like Mister Mxyzptlk and Bat-Mite) following the mental decline of Johnny Thunder due to Alzheimer's diseas.
The original Flash Jay Garrick gave Thunderbolt's lamp/fountain pen to Jakeem who can control the incredibly powerful Fifth Dimensional being by clicking the pen and saying "so cool."
Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger), as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series.
