The CW has finally released the first official trailer for the upcoming third season of Stargirl, which looks to be the biggest year yet for Courtney Whitmore as she begins to train under Starman (Joel McHale) and also attempts to unite her friends and former enemies to form the greatest superhero team of them all.

The acclaimed DC series will return on Wednesday, August 31 at 8:00 PM EST. Plot details are scarce, but the season will be subtitled, "Frenemies," so expect a lot of drama between the new Justice Society of America and the former Injustice Society.

In addition to Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore/Stargirl, the main cast will also feature Yvette Monreal as Yolanda Montez/Wildcat, Anjelika Washington as Beth Chapel/Dr. Mid-Nite, Cameron Gellman as Rick Tyler/Hourman, Trae Romano as Mike Dugan, Hunter Sansone as Cameron Mahkent, Neil Hopkins as Larry Crock, Joy Osmanski as Paula Brooks, Amy Smart as Barbara Whitmore, Meg DeLacy as Cindy Burman/Shiv, Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan/S.T.R.I.P.E., and Joel McHale as Sylvester Pemberton/Starman.

Keith David is expected to voice this season's assumed big bad Mister Bones, while Ysa Penarejo (Jennie-Lynn Hayden), Stella Smith (Artemis Crock), Jonathan Cake (Richard Swift/The Shade), Alkoya Brunson (Jakeem Williams), Tim Gabriel (Todd Rice/Obsidian), and Seth Green (Thunderbolt) will also appear in recurring capacities.

Check out the first official trailer below:

DC’s Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama reimagines DC’s Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series.

Remember y'all... This technically takes place in the same Earth as The Batman, lol.

Anyway, looks good. Great show. I'll definitely will be there.

@KWilly - wait, how? What's the logic behind that

@bkmeijer1 - They're both in Earth 2.

@KWilly - guess so. Could be one is tv-Earth 2 and the other movie-Earth 2.

Doubt they're really part of the same universe though.

@KWilly - okay, okay. I wouldn't say anything

@KWilly - It doesn't. The Batman was just labeled to be inspired from the Year-2 stories, it was never said to be on Earth-2 nor any other specific Earth.

Earth-2 is just Earth-2 here, post-Crisis.

I heard this show is really good compared to other DC stuff. Haven't seen much of the DC shows (mainly a couple of seasons of Arrow and Peacemaker), so should I give this one a chance? :o

I was watching season 1 with my Ex, and I avoided season 2 because we broke up. It still reminds me of her and makes my heart hurt. Probably won't be watching this season either 😕 😪

Thanks @KingPatel for making this thread!

Sylvester seemed to be pretty chilled living in Blue Valley until he finds out his neighbours are Sportsmaster and Tigress. I can make the deduction that the scene with Paula/Tigress is afterwards that fight late at night with him.

But something tells me the person that Pat is talking to about finding a new line of job might not necessarily Sylvester.

Courtney's eye glowing must be one of the new tricks she's being taught by Starman, something close to letting the Staff's power to channel through her to be more connected to it maybe. But they're bound to clash about being ok with the "helping bad guys breaking good".

Cindy really didn't get the memo the last timethat she approached any of the elderly Mahkents because unless I'm mistaken that old lady she's offering to help is Cameron's grandmother who almost froze her with her breath in S2. And on top of that she's now cooking up some weird drugs and drinking them. She never learns, but curious to see how those experiments will play a role in the story.

Rick also appears to have cracked a new formula for the hourglass because he's powering up in a new way.

The Gambler is back and I bet he's listening to another Kesha song since he's wearing an earphone.

And unless there's some serious misdirection going on in the trailer Cameron will reveal his powers to Courtney, whom if you watch closely appears to be doing a small nod while still being shocked of what she's seeing. He's always doing these bold gestures when it comes to her like inviting her to Homecoming in S1 and showing her the sketches that he made of her in S2 so this must be another of those courageous moments he finds himself doing to be transparent with her. But maybe by then she still hasn't shared her own secret with him either.

Their kiss is also so going to get interrupted again, one doesn't just show that in a trailer that is meant to tease things. But it's nice to see them continuing to grow closer.

I hope there's another trailer that explores the muder mystery theme and that it shows Mr. Bones.

BTW, it appears that a few days ago the HBO Max app crashed and the titles of the episodes of the 3rd Season appeared instead of the ones of Season 2.

Frenemies Chapter One: The Murder

Frenemies Chapter Two: The Usual Suspects

Frenemies Chapter Three: The Blackmail

Frenemies Chapter Four: The Test

Frenemies Chapter Five: The Thief

Frenemies Chapter Six: The Betrayal

Frenemies Chapter Seven: Infinity Inc. Part 1

Frenemies Chapter Eight: Infinity Inc. Part 2

Frenemiss Chapter Nine: The Monsters

Frenemies Chapter Ten: The Killer

Frenemies Chapter Eleven: The Haunting

Frenemies Chapter Twelve: The Will of Sylvester Pemberton

Frenemies Chapter Thirteen: The Settlement

Very curious about the two-parter episodes because they are about a superhero team from the comics that were based on the offsprings from each JSA member for the most part and it included half of the main cast that makes the show's team (Yolanda, Rick, Beth) to Sylvester, Jennie, Grundy and even the upcoming villain Mr. Bones and also the deceased Henry/Brainwave Jr. so to add that musn't be just for teasers and giggles. Like with the 7 Soldiers of Victory in S1, it's probably meant to be something relevant.
