STARGIRL: It's Gettying Icy In The New Promo For Season 3, Episode 4: "The Evidence"

It looks like next week's episode of Stargirl will shift the focus to the burgeoning relationship between our young heroine Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) and Cameron Mahkent (Hunter Sansone), whose icy powers seem to be coming in with full force.

While the latest promo doesn't offer much in terms of the episode three cliffhanger, which left the fate of Sylvester Pemberton (Joel McHale) up in the air, we should probably expect to receive answers on that front early in the hour.

Meanwhile, it looks like Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson) will be seeking out some much-needed help from a friend, while Beth (Anjelika Washington) uncovers an unexpected new suspect in their ongoing murder investigation.

Check out the new promo for episode four, titled "Frenemies - Chapter Three: The Evidence," below:

Brec Bassinger headlines the series as Courtney Whitmore/Stargirl, with a supporting main cast featuring Yvette Monreal as Yolanda Montez/Wildcat, Anjelika Washington as Beth Chapel/Dr. Mid-Nite, Cameron Gellman as Rick Tyler/Hourman, Trae Romano as Mike Dugan, Hunter Sansone as Cameron Mahkent, Neil Hopkins as Larry Crock, Joy Osmanski as Paula Brooks, Amy Smart as Barbara Whitmore, Meg DeLacy as Cindy Burman/Shiv, Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan/S.T.R.I.P.E., and Joel McHale as Sylvester Pemberton/Starman.

Keith David voices this season's big bad Mister Bones, while Jonathan Cake (Richard Swift/The Shade), Ysa Penarejo (Jennie-Lynn Hayden), Stella Smith (Artemis Crock), Alkoya Brunson (Jakeem Williams), Tim Gabriel (Todd Rice/Obsidian), and Seth Green (Thunderbolt) are set to appear this season in recurring roles.

"Frenemies - Chapter Four: The Evidence" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, V) (HDTV)

BACK TO THE SCENE OF THE CRIME - After one of Sylvester's (Joel McHale) plans results in an unexpected outcome, Pat (Luke Wilson) calls upon an old friend for help. Meanwhile, Beth (Anjelika Washington) uncovers a new suspect in their murder investigation, and Courtney (Brec Bassinger) reaches out to Cameron (Hunter Sansone). Amy Smart, Yvette Monreal, Cameron Gellman, Trae Romano, Meg DeLacy, Neil Hopkins, Joy Osmanski, Hunter Sansone and Alkoya Brunson also star. Walter Carlos Garcia directed the episode written by Paula Sevenbergen (#304). Original airdate 9/21/2022.

Every episode of DC'S STARGIRL will be available to stream on The CW App and CWTV.com the day after broadcast for free and without a subscription, log-in or authentication required.

Good episode showing how Sylvester struggles in finding who he can be beyond Starman in Blue Valley after listening to Courtney's talk of how the town represents a 2nd chance for people to start over. Not an easy thing to do when he became Starman to become useful and not be just a prop as he mentioned about how he was raised by his family, along with his sister. Getting to know that detail was good.

I LOL'ed when he ordered that coffee (or was it tea?) but had to spit it out because it was too bad. It was random but funny too. And it led to ordering at the diner the best tea he's ever tasted, if only he knew Shade had a role in that. Maybe they'll someday have a cup together?

Yolanda still working there was a surprise, but those that read the Earth Prime issue months ago would see it was confirmed so this just is sticking with the continuity.

I find it interesting how she ended up getting earlier Sylvester's approval by being compared to Ted Grant's vigilant behavior and it was a good thing to keep one's guard up when it comes to people like Cindy and yet when she tried to get it as well by sharing the info of the Crocks being blackmailed by the Gambler it backfired.

Everything to do with Cindy is building up to the JSA eventually finding out she's had the laptop all this time and force Courtney's hand in kicking her off after this ep's warning. But it's like I thought, she has sub-mystery that involves knowing what is in there with Dragon King's file and not being able to open it which rules her out as the killer. But it'll be messy once she's busted.

Rick living by himself now is objectively a good thing since it means he's no longer bullied by his uncle but they'll come back to that later since Beth had something to say about it.

Zeek's speech about salvage equals opportunities for new things probably could connect later to Sylvester starting a new team. Infinity Inc. maybe? It would line up with the comics.

Courtney continues to be level-headed in not wanting to point fingers and rush in like she used to do in S1, she's learned about that which is a great thing. Keeping an open and cool head in this arc makes me think of the Twelve Angry Men play, with her being the 8th Jury that stick to the facts of just not having enough evidence to go and accuse someone.

But can't lie that Starman vs Crocks fight wasn't amazing.

Pat's speech afterwards about the example Sly should give from now on was great, showed as well his growth of how he's no longer a sidekick while still portraying him as the mentor/friend Sylvester's always had.

I'd like to know what made Gambler stop blackmailing the Crocks, guess it was just finding out about his daugther as well.

Funny scenes between Tigress and Barbara, they'll end up being besties in the end.

Cameron just continues to spiral, poor guy. If it wasn't clear before that his passion for art wasn't just because he liked it but also due to it being how he coped with all the crap that has happened to him then this episode confirmed it. All the anger that he has kept at bay these years leaks because not only he can no longer paint thanks to the ice cramps but also because from his POV no one else can relate to the changes that have been happening to him, which isn't true for the most part but that's the issue: he feels alone in all of this and any help is meaningless, hence his outburts of rage.

A Rick vs Cameron fight will happen eventually and it'll be for more than just the flat tire he did on Rick's car. It's pointless if Cameron acknowledges and apologizes that he was being a jerk, it's an excuse for Rick to warn him.

Courtney and Cameron angst because of his fear of what his powers could do to her if he lets himself get too close to her was on point. The revelation of his heritage really has affected all the good he had before since he was able to be himself around her. But the reveals are coming for better or for worse so I'm looking forward how those two are going to bond more.

His grandparents must be heavily involved or know important stuff about this murder since they spotted Sylvester earlier in the diner and were seeing hurrying outside the house for some reason.

Sylvester was picked up by something that didn't have physical form. So it is either Obsidian or...someone else related to Helix.

That's quite the preview and we're just in the 4th episode. I really need and want this show to be renewed so bad for Season 4 and beyond to somehow get to what is Johns' endgame with Season 6. Please CW!

I think there are two possibilities here: that is how Courtney finds out about Cameron's powers OR it's a worst-case type scenario that plays in his head like a dream since he fears about hurting her if she gets too close to him, given that he pulled away just from the mere act of interlocking fingers with her in the episode.

This Season has been doing that, play around with scenarios like last week's with Shade's visit to the Gambler before he died. Plus it would be disastrous to have a flare up like that in school, unless it is after hours post class but this isn't summer school either where only some students are.

So this is either how it is or a clever red herring, can't forget about that scene from the trailer where he's using his powers in front of her and she's a little shocked of whatever he is doing, which IMO could be trying to blend both ice and his art together.

Cameron's emotional state is just like that canvas, blank. Which was not before. And that snowglobe of her must be the only way how he can yearn to hold her since he doesn't trust himself with his powers acting up, inside of that she's like "safe" from him.

But that scream sure reminded me of the one Jordan did when Christine died in 1x03's flashback, I think whether the scene is real or not it is a good callback.

@KingPatel here are some promo stills for the next episode.
