STARGIRL Series Premiere Delayed On The CW And DC Universe Due To COVID-19 Production Shutdowns

It's been confirmed that the series premiere of DC Universe's Stargirl has been delayed, meaning it comes to both that streaming service and The CW a little later than Warner Bros. originally planned!

It isn't the worst delay in the world, but TV Line confirms that Stargirl will debut one week later than planned. DC Universe's latest live-action series now premieres on the streaming service on Monday, May 18th. Thus, the show makes its broadcast TV debut on The CW the following day, Tuesday, May 19th, at 8/7c.

Why the change?

The CW is waiting until The Flash exhausts its current inventory of episodes from season 6 as the rest are unfinished due to COVID-19 bringing a halt to shooting and post-production work.

Because of that, Stargirl will open The CW's Tuesday nights from the start of its run and leads into the remainder of Legends of Tomorrow season 5. The original plan was for the freshman series to air after The Flash for a couple of weeks before claiming the leadoff spot for itself.

Stargirl "follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore as she moves to Blue Valley, Nebraska...and inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past."

There's a lot of excitement surrounding the series, especially as it follows other DC Universe shows like Titans, Doom Patrol, and Swamp-Thing. Waiting one more week for the show sucks, but there are considerably worse delays going on in Hollywood right now thanks to COVID-19.

Isn't everything filmed already, must be the special effects I guess, why not let them finish the effects at home like some studios are doing

Real tragedy is Doom Patrol season 2 shut down a week before it was suppose to wrap production.

@Nightmare - Well unless this goes on for a long time, since they were almost done, the delay shouldn't be that bad
