STARGIRL To Air Each Episode On The CW Network The Day After They Premiere On DC Universe

In a surprising announcement, The CW has officially confirmed that they will broadcast each episode of Stargirl the day after its debut on the DC Universe digital subscription service. More past the jump.

With the series expected to approach the superhero genre from a more young adult angle, Stargirl is already set to be a departure from the more graphic and adult series currently found on the DC Universe streaming service. But now, we’ve learned that the series will also be distinct from its fellow DC shows by being the first to air on linear television.

Per The CW, they will broadcast each episode the day after its debut on the DC Universe. Furthermore, after airing on The CW,  each new episode of Stargirl will be available to stream on the network’s free digital platforms.

Although the forthcoming Brec Bassinger-led show will be the first DC Universe program to air on linear television, it’s not the only drama on the streaming service to find a second home, as Doom Patrol is set to be available on HBO Max.

Scheduled to premiere sometime in 2020, Stargirl will also feature Joel McHale (Community), Henry Thomas (The Haunting of Hill House), Lou Ferrigno Jr. (S.W.A.T.), Meg DeLacy (The Fosters), and Anjelika Washington (Shameless).

dc's streaming strategy is beyond stupid.

@rebellion - How? WB's owns several of these services, between CW, HBO,etc. and don't have to make expensive deals with Netflix.

@Battabing - titans is dcu only. doom patrol is both dcu and hbo max. stargirl is dcu and cw. green lantern is hbo max only (probably cuz they want it as a part of dceu)... need i say more? they have no plan, no synergy... it's messier than their movie division.

I mean that’s awesome because I get to watch it easy squeezey. But it’s yet another reason why I shouldn’t sign up for DC Universe. Announce that you are folding it in or just kill it already. I hate to see it suffering for this long.

No, don't rid of it completely. Fold the TV content in with HBO Max and keep DC Universe around as a comic book service similar to Marvel Unlimited.

Awesome. Now I have 2 options on how not to watch this show.

@blackandyellow - Lol my thoughts exactly.

Joel McHale will be (somewhat) funny in it, at least.

@blackandyellow - You don't want a Justice Society show penned by Geoff Johns? Why are you even on a site for comic book fans.

If that's the only thing related to CW (COIE included) then i'm ok with it.
Hopefully it won't be part of the Arroverse.
Stargirl i very dear to me, i trust the hell outta Geoff, and...i mean, one just needs to look at that gutter trash show of Batwoman to know what's better for her character.

@Doomsday8888 - Really?! I reckon Batwoman is easily the best of the CW DC shows. By miles. Apart from the slightly OTT portrayal of Alice, the tone is WAY better and the dialogue tons less cheesy than any of the others. I know FA about Stargirl, but it just looks like more of the same. Young Adult perspective? Give me a break 🙄

Haha, yeah man, i'm afraid so. :P
If i'm being honest, i doubt i would save even one single thing about that show, maybe the costume?
I gave lotta shit to Amell and his acting chops, Grant e Melissa are actually good actors, but this chick who's playing Batwoman...YIKES!
Compared to her, Stephen Amell is like Joaquin Phoenix!
The tone is different from the other shows, it might not be cheesy but it's cringy as hell.
And if you're familiar with the comics, there's very little to like here.

Unlike the other characters with their own show, at least Stargirl was MEANT to be a coming of age/Young adult type of character and that alone makes a huge difference.

@NinnesMBC

No way, i'm only trying to keep up because of COIE, otherwise i'd be done with this crap ASAP.

And i gotta tell ya...it's f*cking torture, man...

Supergirl, Batwoman, GA and the Canaries and now Stargirl. DC is really forcing female superhero’s down our throats.

I also regret paying for DC Universe if they will never put anything on it. Geoff Johns needs to get it together.

@zachman2013 - "they're forcing female superheroes down our throats".

it's not like they haven't existed in comics for decades or anything.

If you are opposed to women being in heroic roles just don't watch them. Maybe, just maybe, they see young women and girls as a market that has been underserved.

That's what all of us are thinking. If they are putting a supposedly premium show on the CW and not even using these "exclusives" to increase subscribers anymore, it makes me very worried about the quality of the show.
