SUPERGIRL Casts 'Cyborg Superman' And 'Alex Danvers'; Andrew Kreisberg To Write/Produce

Two more major casting additions have been made to Supergirl, with Homeland's Davide Harewood set to play Hank Henshaw and Grey's Anatomy alum Chyler Leigh cast as Alexandra "Alex" Danvers. This version of the character better known to comic book fans as Cyborg Superman is a one-time CIA agent who now runs the Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO), which tracks extraterrestrial threats on Earth. Alex meanwhile is the confident foster sister of Kara. Fascinated by Kara's powers from a young age, Alex developed a lifelong obsession with science that inspired her to become a doctor. Even more exciting than this is the fact that Arrow and The Flash's Andrew Kreisberg has joined Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler as a writer and executive producer. Supergirl focuses on Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin, who was born on the planet Krypton and escaped amid its destruction years ago. Melissa Benoist will play Kara, who after arriving on Earth was taken in by a foster family, the Danvers, who taught her to be careful with her extraordinary powers.

@Tars I'll say at least Supergirl has better actors than Arrow and Flash from what I'm hearing.

Seems weird though if they're planning an all out DC-TV universe to start that universe with Green Arrow and then go straight to Supergirl. A DC universe where the Trinity is entirely absent. Cool.

Before anyone complains about the race... remember that his body gets destroyed and he remakes a body genetically identical to Superman. I don't know if they'd do that in the show, but there you go

I do wish they'd go with the new 52 Cyborg Superman... who is actually Zor-El (Kara's father) who survived and lives in a body Brainiac made, but doesn't remember

@Sofresh

That's funny, I noticed the same thing. I can't even identify a post that would rustle his jimmies so much. It's some kind of persecution complex.

I hope that Marvel steps up on showing superpowered characters in their TV shows.
