With the
news that
Cyborg Superman would be making his live action debut on the CW's
Supergirl, speculation has been rampant about who would portray the character. A popular theory among fans is that Tyler Hoechlin, who played
Superman in the first two episodes of this season, would return to play the robotic doppelganger. Unfortunately, it seems that fans will have to continue to wait for Hoechlin to don the red and blue outfit again.
“Cyborg Superman is not [being played by] Tyler Hoechlin,” said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg to
TV Line.
“We’d love to have him back, but right now, we’re still trying to figure out what we’re going to do for the rest of the season. We loved working with him, he’s amazing in the part and we’d be lucky to get him back.”
While this may be disappointing to some, there's still a list of other comic-related possibilites. The classic Cyborg Superman in the comics was Hank Henshaw, who is currently being played by David Harewood. The character, as we know, was later revealed to be Martian Manhunter, who took the appearance of the real, now deceased, Henshaw. With the agent's partner, Jeremiah Danvers, revealed to be alive, is it possible that Hank himself survived too? Harewood seems to think so.
"There's always a chance [Henshaw survived]," the actor told reporters during a visit to the set.
"Watch this space; you never know."
